As I have said numerous times, Wisconsin will never win a big one with Carlini in the starting lineup.

I do not think Dogner has the potential that you all herald about. She has made SO many errors...can't chalk that up as freshman who came with all the awards she came in with. She needs a good dose of FOCUS and Slimpson needs to back off and spread the sets around. When you set one person 71 freakin times and just pepper a few to the rest, what does that do to the morale of the rest ? Coleen Bayer, you need to start calling the sets!

I took this pic of my friends (Billy Ray, Earl, and Smitty) Celebrating the Badger loss.

Ridiculous comment....how about beating undefeated Hawaii in the NCAA's in '04 (She and Reineke teamed for the last critical block against Sanders), or Notre Dame in a five game Badger win in the NCAA's in '05. Carlini made the regional All-Tournament team after that game. Those two games were "slightly" larger than last night's. I suggest you go grind your Carlini axe, and silver7 grind his Simpson axe, somewhere else.

I'm surprised the Badger middles weren't more dominant. They should have destroyed the Buckeyes in the middle.

Silver, I can't argue that Simpson did not do a good job of spreading the sets around last night, though without having seen the game, I don't want to say something unwarranted. But you can chalk up a lot of Dolgner errors to her youth and inexperience. Last night was the first time she played in a road game against a ranked squad, apparently in front of a pretty big local crowd (Amazing for OSU, hope they keep it up). She only improve....if her arm doesn't fall off.

I'm surprised the Badger middles weren't more dominant. They should have destroyed the Buckeyes in the middle. Blocking-wise, apparently they did....look at OSU's middle hitting stats. Look at the blocking differentials from each team. As far as offense goes, Ruffda, I think you need the ball first before you can hit it. It would have been nice to see what both Badger middles could have done with 45 swings each, like the Gopher's middles get. They get half that amount.

Who's touchy now? Have you looked at the PSU boxscore?
And don't you think they _should_ have gotten 45 swings each--Reineke anyhow? Looks like bad coaching to me...

Who's touchy now? Have you looked at the PSU boxscore? And don't you think they _should_ have gotten 45 swings each--Reineke anyhow? Looks like bad coaching to me... Jones hit .222 with two BA's, and Nelson hit .138 with two BA's. PSU's Harmotto hit .217 with 6 BA's, and Wallbridge hit .400 with 6 BA's.......I fail to see your point. PSU clearly won those battles. And yes, I do think other Badgers should have had more swings, not necessarily just the middles. Seventy one for Dolgner is ridiculous, and as I said last night, if that happens again at PSU, forget it as far as the Badger's chances go. Last night, the Badger's offense was the result of either bad passing, limiting Simpson's options, bad setting, or bad coaching, as you say. Unfortunately, the game was played at OSU, which is a black hole from which match details apparently never escape to the public who couldn't attend. So we might never know the full story......

My point was that they didn't get 45 swings each against PSU. They got so many swings against MSU because it WORKED.
No insult was intended to any Badger (except the coaching staff and anyone there with a guilty conscience (or anyone who _should_ have a guilty conscience)).

I see your point.....I wondered the same thing.....and where the 71 swings for Dolgner strategy came from. As I said in my previous post, bad coaching is just one of the possibilities.

Two decent games in 3 plus years against above average teams. There's something to hang your hat on, wow!!

She needs a good dose of FOCUS and Slimpson needs to back off and spread the sets around. Wisconsin has a great coach. He wouldn't have recruited her if he didn't think he had something there. She'll be formidable. I said she was raw... she reminds me a lot of OSU's Szerszen (lots of presence but too many oopsies!) but hits the ball about 10x harder. Believe me: Stacey Gordon is my favorite athlete of all time. I've watched her up close for years. She's "my kind" of athlete, whatever that means. This kid certainly isn't SG, but she has so much potential to be an incredible offensive weapon...and "my kind" of athlete. Hell, if the Badgers don't want her, send her to Columbus C.O.D.! I'm buying! Carlini still stinks and nothing you say can change that. Two decent games in 3 plus years against above average teams. There's something to hang your hat on, wow!! Wow, what's your beef here? Did she beat you up? It was RELIEF whenever she subbed out last night. I can't fully explain the intangible she brought to the court. She's Cap'n, right? I think she and Main shook hands before the 5th game. BUT, I'll say this AT OSU fans: for as many as were in attendance, the G5 sideout with OSU up 8-7 sounded like a f@#$ing mausoleum. But, I don't speak for the fans (or the whatever lack of support regarding GT)... I shouted myself horse. ;D

For those who do not know, Carlini injured her foot @ the Illinois game. She has been wearing an orthopedic boot during the week. I have a suspicion she has that plantar fa%*$#is(spelling, long I) thing.
If you were at the game, there were at least six miscalls by the referees. (More like ten)

Carlini is a decent player who has contributed greatly to the Badger program. Furthermore, I'm sure she will be a major contributor to the Canadian National Team in the future. Give her a break. So her hitting numbers weren't spectacular, but that doesn't mean that she stinks. She contributes to this team in many, many ways, so back off.
