Seeing them play really impressed me.. Wow, Barboza is really playing like MVP, I dont know of any OH that can carry the load with passing, digging, and hitting like she has this year. I have always wondered about Stanford.. They always play down to the competition during the preseason and let other teams think they are beatable, then come playoff time, they step up and crush other teams hopes.

Gee! Not to take anything away from Barboza, she was very good, but she wasn't even in the same League as Kristin Richards, while playing against UCLA. Barboza 21 Kills, 10 errors, 159 Hitting Percentage. 9 Digs. Richards 26 Kills, 8 errors, 289 Hitting Percentage, 26 DigsWhat don't you get? ? Fouluke had 18 Kills, and hit 457.

I was at the match as well, and first off, Richards and Barboza had the same amount of kills: 21. The whole "not in the same league" argument is a little far-fetched. And who cares anyway, they won!

Okay, one last thing about tonight's match. This is where it shows that I frequent this forum more often than I should: Ali Daley replaced Kaitlin Sather around the 3rd game, I believe, and I swear I heard in my head, "Ali Daley's mom, back to serve." That's all. Goodnight! ;D Speaking of Daley. Was she sitting on the Bench until the third game because of her Mom? Because, when she was brought in, it seemed like the team played with a lot more fire, she was pretty intense with the back row play. If indeed thats the case, maybe her mom should stay home, cause she looks to have more double, doubles, with kills and digs than anyone else on her team...

Hey sorry, your so right about the amount of kills, but Richards had a way better hitting percentage in that match, and she did have 26 digs to CB's 9. Your the one who brought it up! Just thought the stats should be out there for all of the team. Give credit where credit is do. Stanford's defense was the bomb. UCLA put down some big hits, only to be popped up, and Kristin was doing by far a great job of it.

Now if Kristin could just learn how to pass the ball....it is very scary when she and Fishburn are next to each other in the back row. Richards gets aced and laughs about it...and it happened more than the stats showed on Friday. Anyone who was at the match knows what I'm talking about. UCLA did a good job of exposing those two in Stanford's serve receive pattern. It was a great TEAM win for Stanford and a great all around match to watch. If UCLA can get away from playing with so much emotion and just focus they will be a lot more successful. Merriweather sliding on her knees after each block might be cute but it really does little for the task at hand. She and Spicer really connect well in the middle.

JACKPOT DING DING DINGFeel exactly the same way about her celebrating, not saying she doesn't do one heck of a job on the kills, but why not wait to celebrate and pat your self on the back when you have got that Big W under your belt. Not to mention the fact UCLA got there little behinds kicked in the middle all night long. Kehoe did a great job with Foluke and Franci, in the middle setting the quicks, in-fact that seemed to be where Barboza ended up getting some of her kills, they brought her around for a middle attack. from behind the MB. In Spicers defense she did not get the best passes from the back-row, it looked liked the back row had a lot of trouble for the most part of the night, then just when they looked like they were snapping out of it, they fell right back into it. Didn't they get aced on the last point of the match? Soft serve. The back row definitely did not play like themselves. Really rather like Sather playing at opposite, with Daley in at OH, it gives them more height, and they both pass well. Katlin is strong coming from the right side, and it helps with the right side block as well as giving you a lot more help in the middle. She also can set relatively well.

If you look at the both teams it seems that Ucla was deeper than Stanford in the use of their players. Stanford had only about 7-8 players that they used throughout the match and Ucla used 9-10 players throughout the match. Stanford definately needs to stay healthy.
