She's only a Sophomore at this point and some of the Gopher's best players in the recent past didn't have much starting time or success until their senior seasons.
Cassie Busse, Erin Martin, Tree Bratford - all were fairly rarely starters during their first 2 years yet became full time starters making a major impact on their teams for their final 2 years.
I'm not predicting that it will play out the same for Jackson, however, what we do know about her is that she's extremely athletic and she's made improvement each year thus far.

Jackson's swings in the pre-match warm ups look better. Hopefully, her leg issues will clear up soon. I wonder if this will be a redshirt year for her.

Wasn't she wearing a boot on one of her feet on Saturday night? And didn't she redshirt her freshman year? Maybe she could get a medical redshirt this year.

She was wearing a boot this past weekend. And, I think you are correct in that she did redshirt her freshman year. A medical redshirt could be an option. But I think they would only try that if she and the staff felt she could really contribute in the next two years.

She looked pretty injured this weekend. I'm not sad though. Jackson hasnt ever impressed me (not that's she's really ever played). She's a player that needs some confidence.

She redshirted in 2004, was active on the team in 2005.
I guess the team could apply for a medical redshirt at the end of the season.
BearClause posted the rules of getting a 2nd (ie, medical) redshirt season. The odds don't seem to be overly favorable for that happening. But who knows for sure...

This thread has gone much too long without being updated. Only 29 hours to the start of the match. Can't wait (especially considering the weather) for this match to start. Looking forward to a fun and exciting match (although I find matches much more fun and exciting when MN wins!).

Still no word from the Wisconsin camp on whether or not Carlini will be suiting up... DuPont has done nicely in Carlini's absence and has yet to hit under .300 in a match - against PSU, Purdue, and Indiana. Of course, she's not racking up the kills yet either, 6 (2 games), 9, 8 respectively. It may be worth it to rest Carlini since the other match this weekend is Iowa and we probably wouldn't need her for that. However, she'd probably be handy against PSU and OSU the following weekend. I like the Badgers chances with Carlini or DuPont at OH. They just need to bomb away their serves and not make a ton of errors doing so. Berkley has been giving teams fits with her deep floater all season. She doesn't get a ton of aces, but lots of free balls come back over the net. Interesting article about "Xontro", a game that Pete Waite made up and plays with the team... badgerherald.com/sports/2006/10/17/xontro_hits_it_big.php

It's only a matter of time before they start using it in matches.
I've seen goal-setting like this in JOs. Half-way through a game, the bench starts cheering for no reason anyone else can figure out.

We could use her tomorrow night, to be sure, but we need her even more later this year. DuPont has been outstanding so far (and against better competition ,PSU and Purdue) so I don't think it's a bad move to play her against the Gophers.

I don't think the drop off for Carlini-DuPont is that much, so I say go with DuPont. And then.... set the ball to Dolgner! She's on fire!

As much as I hate to admit it, I don't think Minnesota has a chance against the Badgers.
