As much as I hate to admit it, I don't think Minnesota has a chance against the Badgers. Minnesota has a good chance to beat the Badgers. UW hasn't put together a solid effort in Minneapolis in a few years - since the Sherisa/Fitzgerald days. I'd love it if the Badgers won, and they are definitely capable of doing so. It's just going to come down to who plays the smarter and better match on a weeknight. It's typically the team who makes the least amount of errors who wins these matches, not necessarily the most aggressive team. I will say this, I like the Badgers chances of winning in Mpls better than Minnesota's chances of winning in Madison.

I hope the Badgers can actually play well in Minneapolis, as they haven't put forth their best effort there the last couple of years, at least. I just get the feeling that they are a little better than Minnesota, and maybe that can overcome the home court advantage. I think that DuPont will probably start. I know Carlini will want to get in there as soon as she can, but the Badgers need to think of the whole season and try to get her back healthy by the stretch run. I don't know how good she would be without practicing for so long. It is a shame too, because, as most people except her lead basher would agree, she was playing really well before she went out. I hope that she can make it back and be in the groove for Halloween weekend. Until then, I think DuPont will be fine. Since she is so aggressive and inexperienced, she will probably have a match where she hits for a low percentage, but she has improved a lot from what little I saw of her at the start of the season. Also, I think that it has gotten to the point where I can say that Dolgner is just a good hitter. I worry that she might hit the wall a bit as most freshmen do at some point, but she is just getting better. She had some unforced errors against IU but has really stepped it up in the conference season. I just hope she can get the jump serve back. Her blocking has also improved a lot. I know that Minnesota is a talented team, but I think the Badgers will win this one, probably in a grueling match that is close all the way and goes four or five games.

BTY --- Where has (R)uffda been? Haven't heard from him since MN leaped ahead in the polls.

As a matter of fact, I think the Badgers will be very fortunate to get out of that hellhole with a win, because the Gophers protect their territory so well. I'd like to go this one, but that arena makes me very nervous. Their fans are ok, but the karma is very bad for me. I do agree with you, Wisconsin has a good chance to pull it off. At this point, I think they are slightly better than last year's team. We'll see.....

I see the Stribune has made up for their Sunday Sports slight, by featuring the Gophers on page 1.
Oh, wait. That's Mason whining about being booed.
There's NOTHING about the volleyball team.

Well, yesterday they mentioned the fact that Brad Johnson went to a volleyball match on the weekend, since the Vikings had their bye week. Sheesh! What more do you want?

I thought everyone in Gopherland was supposed to be excited about Mason getting his 4 year extension after averaging a 3-5 conference record over his first 8-9 years. His followup to getting the renewal has been an conference opher so to this point. If you were running a local paper which would you prefer to write about? The drama of an unranked regularly thumped football team (with a "mistakenly" malined whining coach) or a ranked volleyball team (with a coach soon to be added to the sport's hall of fame) playing against their biggest rival who is also ranked?

What more does any man want, really? A few more moments of joy in his all too brief lifetime, a chance to make his mark on this world, perhaps a child to carry on his name.
And Ho-Hos, of course.

I turned into "The Glen Mason Show" on WCCO on Monday night -- it was by accident. Anyhow, "The Glen Mason Show" was sans Glen. It was some assistant coach. I _think_ he was an assistant at the U, but I can't swear by it.
Anyhow, I will not blast Glen in this forum. It's hypocritical.
(But, gawd, what a program that is.)
