Hopefully Meghan's stats over the week are good enough to get her POW. She has had 4 terrific matches. Would be nice to see her get recognized.

Or Jones.
Or Hartmann.

Interesting stats format on the Gopher web site. Kinda hard to follow.
There is a write up on the home page but nothing said about Nelson.

What do you suppose is going on this year? It's as if the website design has been an obstacle to communication.
Let's see what Iowa has.

I hope that Nelson is okay and that she will be full strength for next weekend. It looks like the Gophers took care of business effectively in her absence, though. Jones had a huge match, so she could be a candidate for individual honors as well. I will give her one: my "most annoying Big Ten player" award (Penn State gets the program award, for obvious reasons). I am sure that Gopher fans love her fire and enthusiasm, but I find it grating for whatever reason. Also, if you are not former NBA player Cliff Robinson, headbands are not cool. Forward the message to Courtney Thompson. Maybe I am just bitter after the Badger loss to Minnesota.

Bucky, I hear you about Jones being annoying. I'm sure if she played for WI she would annoy me, too!
Same with fan chants. If it is for my team, it's great! If it's for the other team, it's annoying.
Good luck next week. Feel free to take PSU to 5 games on Friday night!

Is it fine with you if the Badgers win in five or less? The problem with the annoyed Lion team aside, wouldn't Gopher fans prefer a Badger win? They are now two matches ahead of Wisconsin in the standings, and the Gophers would be in position to take the lead by themselves if they beat OSU and Wisconsin beat PSU.

I had originally written that I wanted WI to take PSU to 5 and win. But I thought about having an upset PSU team coming to Mpls the next night.
However, feel free to win 4. Toy with them if you must! Just make Hodge take about 100 swings!!

In looking at the box score a little more I see that Hartmann was in on 4 blocks. I like to see that. Blocking was something I thought Tatjes was able to bring to the game in her senior season.
I also liked the low number of errors by Roehrig and Cumpston given the number of swings they took. I obviously do not know what type of swings Roerhrig took but I hope she was swinging hard when the opportunity arose.
I know it was only Iowa but hopefully they are starting to warm up for next weekend.
I would still like to know the situation with Nelson.

Hebert could have been simply giving Schmidt playing time since Nelson probably wasn't needed. It will be interesting to see if Schmidt starts next year or if Gibb will get in there right away. My guess is that she sits for awhile, but might be playing a lot by mid-season. Schmidt might even be on the RS. OK..........I'll live in the moment.

They'll have 4 decent OHs next year: Dieter, Vatterrodt, Hagerty and Roehrig. And that's not even counting Cowles (who is being under-estimated) and Phillips. So I doubt Schmidt will play on the right.
For another thing, they'll need a MH available off the bench.
Nelson is not well and was not well for the Badger match. Beyond that, I have no details.

Minnesota Daily article on the weekend matches doesn't mention Nelson. They've been doing a pretty good job at the Daily -- much better than the TC dailies -- and you'd think they'd have at least mentioned her if there were a "situation." I'm choosing to hope she was just getting a little r-and-r heading into this tough weekend.
