MU is really having a hard time lately.. they really peaked in September. I hope they get their %*$# together to make a decent run in the tournament.

Missouri had major problems at the net defensively. Not many blocks and their blockers weren't getting touches consistently or causing Nebraska to adjust their shots, leaving their back-row players out to dry against the hammers of Pavan, Larson, Stalls, Cooper and even Mancuso.
Nebraska was having the same problems in games 1 and 2. But they were much better in game 3 and it showed. 6 blocks (I think), a lot more digs and a dominating 30-16 win.

To me, the biggest problem seemed to be their defense. Their blocking looked like Texas out there. Also, how many roll shots and tips hit the ground with very little or no effort? Nebraska is great and deserve that #1 ranking but Mizzou should have taken a game.

Missouri has never been that great of a blocking team this season so that's nothing new. Nebraska looked entirely beatable during the first two games.. Of course, they look that way the majority of the time. You just never know since they haven't played anyone of consequence.

I guess "anyone of consequence" doesn't include your own Mizzou team or even a top-10 team in Texas. It must mean a top-5 team which we haven't. And that does worry me.

Nebraska had a very nice night offensively. The block also came together in game 3. What a change too Stalls had the lowest hitting percentage of the team and was still around .250

I'd say Top 10 teams.. but they have played Texas.. who are so on and off that you really have no idea what's going on... but, yeah, only time will tell..

Game 1 was very entertaining, high quality volleyball. Both teams played great. When MU played their best game and still came up short, then like most the mistakes and hesistating starts. Game 2 they still played well but not believing anymore. NU has got the weapons to win it all they will just have to be on throughout the tournament. No one is a lock, they will need to bring their A game to win it all. Certainly if Pavan, Larson, Stalls bring their best game their chances are very good and they have a winner at the setter position. MU is good but rely too much on Vander kooi and Wilson to make it too far. Should be interesting to see them rebound on 2 days rest and go to Baylor and play on Friday. Baylor is hungry for a win, but if they lose by 2 points again I may find a rope and hang myself:)

Had the chamce to watch the Huskers tonight for the first time this year. Not too bad although I think the top 4 teams in the Pac 10 can handle them with quickness advantages particularly in the middle. I have a question for the Husker fans ... does Pavan always look so uninspired out there ? The rest of the team looked energized and to be having fun while Pavan didn't match the enthusiasm of her teammates.

As has been mentioned previously by a Husker fan, the celebratory nature of many players will not win championships because it supposedly wastes energy and has a detrimental effect on momentum. Pavan is focused on the championship belt.

I recall Kathy Gregory saying nearly that exact same thing about the quickness of the Pac-10 controlling the Huskers when Arizona came to play in a regional one year. Result: Nebraska swept Arizona. That's why you play the game. I have a question for the Husker fans ... does Pavan always look so uninspired out there ? The rest of the team looked energized and to be having fun while Pavan didn't match the enthusiasm of her teammates. She has always been pretty quiet then goes out and hits around .400 and around 20 kills most games. I'd gladly take 4 more EXACTLY like her any day. Besides, the fans MORE that make up in excitement about how she plays.

Besides, the fans MORE that make up in excitement about how she plays. I don't want to be a jerk or anything.. but you're kidding, right? You could practically hear crickets in the Coliseum tonight. I know it wasn't a very exciting match but I'm always surprised that such a dedicated crowd can be so catatonic. Granted, we don't get to see or hear much of the student section on TV nor have I been there.

Given the fact that 4 of those starting Missou players are Nebraskans from the eastern end of the state I think they were probably even more respectful and supportive. About Pavan..... Who cares what her demeanor is when she can perform like that???
