It's something how people look for the negative. I'd say Pavan looks focused not emotionless. The crowd is very unique. Very loud yet very respectful. The TV doesn't capture it. I'll reserve my opinion of the Coach though.

What I wish would happen is for the University to somehow get a student section on the floor going. It would bring so much energy to the floor and to the whole place. The "Red Zone" guys at NU basketball games are very appropriate and a lot of fun. I do think it's a shame that students are all but shut out of NU volleyball except for the rafter seats. :-( It would be great but where would they sit. We already have people everywhere but hanging from the ceiling and no one is going to give up their tickets. I wonder if that west side of the bleachers could be enlarged to accomodate about double the fans??? Move the north bleachers back and turn the court to north and south. Then add chair back seating along the east and west side that you sell for a premium. That should increase capacity to 5000 to 5500. Then convert some or all of the either the north or the south floor seating to a student section. I'm sure (except for the student section part) it's been/being discussed.

Ticketmaster does not sell tickets for venues at the University of Nebraska. They do for events at the Qwest Center in Omaha.

I'm sure (except for the student section part) it's been/being discussed. This issue was discussed in a thread sometime last year. I recall someone saying that the idea had been studied by the University and that there were structural engineering issues that might make it impractical. If it could be done, you would potentially gain seats in at least three areas: 1. You could add floor bleachers on the east and west sides of the court. I'm guessing these could each have 7 or 8 rows (like the existing south floor bleachers) and could probably also be slightly longer than the existing south floor section. 2. Besides repositioning the north floor bleachers, you could also possibly make them several rows higher to add a bit more seating capacity. 3. While it wouldn't add a significant number of seats, you would also be able to open up more of the balcony seating on both sides towards the north end of the building. If such changes were possible, I am curious as to how much this would add to the seating capacity. I am thinking that the new total might be even more than the 5,500 that you mention.

Just my own little shot at the handling of the championship tickets. I'm in therapy for this and have been told that if MN makes to the championship rounds I will be cured.

MN's Tree Bratford was similar with her emotions. She would make a big kill or block and not jump up and down which would lead people to comment that she was unemotional. It didn't help that the other OH was Erin Martin who always let her emotions come thru. But, in the post-match receptions Tree was as engaging and fun to be around as any of the other players. Some players feel that they need to keep their emotions on an even keel to be at their best.

Does anyone know who to contact to thank Fox Sports Net for televising last night's match? I went to their home page but couldn't find a contact site.
I want to thank them for the telecast and urge them to do more of these telecasts in the future.

I wish people could see Pavan when she does react, for example she had two amazing blocks following by some pretty serious screaming through the net at Na Yang. It was awesome, although she did get warned by the midget down ref. :-) She has a lot of personality and expression you just have to watch her. Not sure you could ever pick it up on television.

Looking at your crowd composition I have one big question for you Husker fans: How many defibrillators do you keep on hand inside that gym? BTW if the place ever catches on fire you will lose half your crowd before you can evacuate them

I would guess that if you removed everyone over the age of 30 you would still have a crowd larger them most other teams get at their home matches. That being said, I do have several older folks surrounding me & at least one has a bladder control issue

While I don't agree that the Coliseum is quiet (at least it wasn't when I was there), I agree they could really use more student representation in the crowd. Changing the setup - maybe rotating the court 90 degrees and moving those bleachers back would allow for more fans. I think it's a cool atmosphere, but if they can sell out bigger venues, than why not take the chance. Also, I'm sure Nebraska isn't concerned about this, but the shoebox they put the visiting crowd in is a little ridiculous.

FSN Midwest carried last Kansas State and Texas Tech last week running opposite of the Texas/Nebraska game on ESPNU. Generally the Mizzou/Nebraska games are on FSN Midwest so not sure why it was run on so many other FSN outlets. The sports season is in a lull though with baseball ending, football only on weekends and basketball not starting yet. I'm sure they'll be carrying more games during this period. Check out www.avca.org/06televisedmatches.pdf for an idea of broadcasts... which is updated often.

BTW if the place ever catches on fire you will lose half your crowd before you can evacuate them I don't believe there are any defibrillators. That is part of the built in rotation system for getting tickets to different people. It hasn't worked very well yet because only two new people got season tickets this year that didn't get them last year and that was only because one couple moved away and gave up their tickets. Our fans refuse to die, just so they can keep watching the Huskers play. Oh, and I realize this concept may be above you but concrete, brick and steel really don't burn very well so not much problem with this issue either.

Also, I'm sure Nebraska isn't concerned about this, but the shoebox they put the visiting crowd in is a little ridiculous. Coach Cook has stated that the configuration of the court is not going to change and the engineering study has shown that the floor (or rather the basement underneath) cannot support adding more bleachers so that won't change either. Also, Nebraska fans (at least those with tickets who have been the big supporters of the program for many years) do not want to move to a larger facility. We've played in Devaney and even the Qwest and it is not the same at all. Bigger is definitely not better in this case. Volleyball NEEDS to be played in an intimate atmosphere to be able to be fully appreciated. Finally, I'm just guessing but I think the visitors section could hold about 50 people if they were packed in like the rest of us and there are usually empty seats there. There are a few exceptions such as opponents with several Nebraskans on the team and a few teams have a decent travel group who especially want to experience the Coliseum almost as much as watch their team play. The location of the visitors seats is very good. They are right behind the Huskers home bench and elevated above them so they can certainly see all the action and be very close to it. They are in much better shape than the few general admission seats. Yes, it would be nice to be able to allow more visitors in but it would also be nice to be able to allow more Husker fans (and students at least in some people's opinion) in. None of those options are possible.

From what I have been told it is the pursuit of the almighty dollar that gives you the crowd composition that you have. I understand that the students don't or can't afford to attend due to the outrageous prices that you charge....this is a good thing in some respects but has its obvious downside.....many schools don't do it that way, but when in Nebraska do as the huskers do I guess
