I'm seeing the 9 point run, and man Hodge couldn't pass worth anything.

When did Hodge stop jump serving? She killed Purdue in game 1 with it, but didn't use it when she was serving game 1 against WI

She was jumping last night against Minnesota, but not the last few games. Maybe to give her a rest?
PSU has a _lot_ of jump servers. Russ has never had a high risk serving team in all the years I've been watching the Lions. But they had 9 aces and 15 errors last night -- and their serving won it for them. I take this as another sign of vulnerability.
I really think the Lions are going to be hard-pressed in the NCAAs.

Just finished watching the ESPN2 broadcast so a few random thoughts: a) Now I know why Glass is starting (this was the 1st time I saw her playing). This kid is very, very good and judging by her court bahavior and face expression she is a true leader type player. Consider the fact she is only a FR and it turns out PSU should not miss Sam T at all. b) This was the 1st PSU game I watched this season but they couldn't pass to save their lives... Those who have been following them should be able to say whether it was just a bad night but they barely kept the ball in play for most part of the match. It was so bad that very often they couldn't even set the OH's......So just for this particular game Walters seems to be a bigger loss than Tortorello. c) I wasn't impressed by Hodge. May be FR jitters, may be someting else - I do not know. Big hooops+ powerfull swings help only of you find the court..... d) I do not think UW did something extraordinary. They just play up to their potential and didn't do anything wrong. It seemed to me like a night when all players on the court were extremely focused and providing the best from themselves. e) Add b to d and the outcome is not looking surprizing amy more.

So I was watching the ESPN2 replay in a restaurant today, and I may have missed it, but was there no post-match handshaking?
Looked like the Badger fans stormed the court and started celebrating with a somewhat-leery-of-their-own-fans bunch of volleyball players. This went on for a while, and it appeared that PSU eventually left after waiting for the handshake. Which never came.
Just the sort of thing that would seemingly outrage a bunch of internet volleyball board types. Maybe the outrage is only reserved for cases where one single player is presumed to have snubbed one single opponent. I guess it's much better for an entire team to take part in the snubbing rather than one player.

Much to the surprise of the Badger players, a group of their fans rushed the court after the last point, and surrounded the Badger players. This prevented them from ever reaching the net for the handshake. The Lions waited about 5 seconds, and when they determined that the Badgers were probably not going to be able to get to the net, the Lions left for the locker room rather than have to wade through the fans. That's it. Sorry it wasn't more controversial. I even saw Walbridge and Reineke (apparently former teammates) hugging each other while somebody's Mom took a picture. I really don't think anybody's feelings were hurt....

OK, no problem. I was mostly kidding about the snubbing, but had to point it out for those who made a mountain out of the molehill that was the Pavan-Tomasevic thing.
I agree that the Badgers were surprised by the situation, and had no intention of ignoring PSU.

I can't think of any reason why the Badgers would have been at all leery of the costumed student fans who rushed the court. Oh, wait, perhaps they might not have wanted to smell like a distillery. It was early in the night, I know, but I wouldn't put it past some of our students to have partaken by that time on friday night on Halloween weekend. If I were PSU, I would have wanted to get away from those idiots too. Actually, the Badgers did get a photo op with the costumed fans, so it was all good. Dolgner even slid in from the ESPN post match interview to make the shot.

This could be true only if they attended together a JNT camp (I am not sure about that). Otherwise Walbridge is from PA, Reineke is from IL and they didn't play together neither in HS nor in JR vball club.

Someone mentioned they played together as 13's in a club in the western suburbs of Chicago, not Sports Performance though. Nice pair of middles on that team.

I was told the PSU staff made the decision it was not safe to hang around. Probably wise.
I was going to rush the court on Saturday night, but I thought it would be silly after the Gophers lost. Paula Gentil did hug Russ, however -- if that counts.

I think most nights it would be wise to administer Breathalyzer tests to all the Wisconsin students before they let them into a matcyh.
