It seems Jim McLaughlin agrees with Pedro. "Christal is a big time player and she can play at the highest level," said McLaughlin. "She is getting better and better, but she was just composed the whole night. She took a lot of swings and played well enough to break the dog-gone computer." that's DAWG gone computer!!! ;D

Good recap by all. I would add that the tide seemed to turn when Miyashiro started handling UCLA's serves better and UW sould run a middle attack. That definitely opened things up for the outsides. Morrison on the pipe was also a thing of beauty.
On the UCLA side, Spicer is amazing - she has such a complete game. In fact, until the 4th set, she won EVERY joust at the net with UW, and there were 5 or 6. She also hides her sets extremely well and has a great serve. A little too much drama for my taste, but very fun to watch.
Overall, UCLA served very effectively. Many different types/styles that seemed to keep UW off balance all night. Andy replaced boh Johnson and Carter later in the match. Maybe they were ailing, but UW seemed in better condition as the match wore on. That siad, the UCLA defense kept them in the match, and even when UW had control, they would find a way back in.
Two great nights of vball back to back in Hec Ed!
PS - I thought it was Klineman at first. I guess that's how the rumor mill works.

According to Comcast, FSN Northwest is showing the UCLA/UW match at 8 pm because of the Pac10 footballs. Is it the same with everyone else?

Yes, Alix Klineman was there - all decked out in a white "Washington" sweatshirt. She clapped when the Huskies scored all night. She did a little "jig" when we won Game 4, had a huge grin on her face, and "High Fived" all the UW players. So what's your take on this? That she is leaning towards signing with the Huskies? Word is that Klineman is very close with some of the UCLA players......I think that UCLA is the darkhorse in this race.....

I just learned that while playing at UCLA, Washington players had to endure rude verbal harrassment from UCLA fans who were within touching distance from Husky servers. Some of these comments were even obscene. Additionally, Washington found that their locker area was vandalized, their warm-ups soaked with Gatorade and put in the freezer. I wouldn't think the PAC-10 allows this type of behavior. I am glad our fans don't do these type of things.

LOL. Alix Klineman is in Santa Barbara this weekend playing in the Tournament of Champions with her high school team. They played at 6pm last night...there's no way she was at this match. Well, there was a very tall girl that looks like Alix Klineman sitting behind the bench last night. I did not talk to her, but she definately looked like her pictures on the web. That explains it.

Are you sure that really happened. I haven't heard that from any of the players. And, they would know.

I don't know about the gatorade thing, but I know about the cruel/obscene remarks by the UCLA fans. That doesn't bug me though... actually, I'm glad it happened, they need to go through those things just in case they might have to go through it again.
If they can't block those things out, then they will struggle in college sports.

How did Kaitlin Sather look? She got a lot of play time last year as a freshman but I haven't heard much about her this year.

Dictionary's definition of "Dark horse": a : a usually little known contender (as a racehorse) that makes an unexpectedly good showing b : an entrant in a contest that is judged unlikely to succeed. How are you using "dark horse?" a or b?

I just finished watching the match on FSN, and it was a lot closer in the final two games than it looked. I thought Sather did well, she got some nice kills. She doesn't show up that much this year because Andy rotates her and Ali Daley a lot.

Anyone know why UCLA's libero, Jordan Smith was announced as a Freshman by Karch and the other guy during the tv telecast? It also says in her UCLA player bio that she was a freshman, but I'm sure she was the same libero they had last year.

^?? not a clue...
in the telecast, i friggin hate when they skip whole games, like basically the whole 3rd game when Mo broke the computer, and Jill came in and performed great, like usual...
wow, that look (and mutter) that CT gave the up-ref was deadly in the first game, I'm surprised she didn't get a yellow card. But damn I love her intensity, I think it is unrivaled in any sport.

Maybe because she's listed as a freshman on UCLA's roster? uclabruins.cstv.com/sports/w-volley/mtt/ucla-w-volley-mtt.htmlBut you're right, #14 Jordan Smith is listed in box scores for last year's matches as having played against the Huskies both times they met.
