That queen girl was unstoppable. It seems like every time she was set she would just jump really high (plus long wingspan) and slap / throw the ball down over the block... I don't have any other comments because they would all be negative... Hey, how is Kylie Marshall doing at Unv. Tenn? does anybody know... I wouldn't want to write a "dissertation" on the subject, but... As usual, im not at all an expert with volleyball like i am with other sports, but she seems to be doing pretty well. Her backrow skills are good enough for her to see a very significant amount of time at DS, and even a fair amount of time at libero... Her passing seems good, and her ability to get to balls and keep them alive seems excellent... Her serve seems pretty good. IIRC she is the only real jump server on the team. It doesnt seem to have jill collymore / jordan larson type power (allthough i mostly see it from an endline which makes it hard to judge speed), but it is pretty consistent and seems like one of the more effective serves on the team. She hasnt played much front row, but when she has i think she did pretty good. I don't have a very good memory though so i cant elaborate. From a limited amount of hear-say, i understand her future here is supposed to be at OH and not at libero, but im not positive about that.

Where is TC Cincy. It seems the only thing that matches his love of the Vols, is his disdain for the Kats." No way Kentucky wins in Knoxville" Evidently he can't type with his foot in his mouth. LOL. Skin is the man!

Tennessee has taken a big drop in less than a year. With all the talent that Tennessee has - young and old - I am amazed that they can lose at home to Kentucky. A big win for the Kats and a huge loss with major NCAA ramifications for Tennessee.

I tried to tell you people Kentucky would sweep Tennessee this year. Does Tennessee have enough quality wins to get in the tournament this year. When was the last time a final four team of the previous year was left out of the Dance?

Yes, I think that Tennessee has enough quality wins to get in, although they won't get the type of draw they had the last two years. The loss to Kentucky will hurt, but I don't think it will hurt Tenneseee as much as losses to Mississippi and Auburn will hurt Kentucky.
Tennessee has wins over Louisville, Arkansas, and LMU. Last year Tennessee helped get Louisville in, this year I think that Louisville will help get Tennessee in.

How are wins over Arkansas and LMU going to impress anyone. And Louisville is having it's worst season in several years. Tennessee needs to put a string of wins together or they are in trouble. I don't think the committee is going to send as many Christmas gifts this year to the SEC as they did last year.

It will impress them because one of the main tools the committee uses is RPI. One other thing they look at is wins against other teams that get At-Large bids. In the last RKPI, Louisville is 24th and Arkansas is 28th. Arkansas is playing well right now and has the chance to move up to the Top 25. That would give Tennessee 2 wins over Top 25 RPI teams. I mentioned LMU, because they have traditionally received an at-large bid. The other factor is that right now Tennessee is 27th in the RKPI. If you look at the history of the selections, with only a few exceptions, the Top 40 teams in the RPI have received bids. The only time this doesn't happen is if the team is from a mid-major.
Now I am not saying I agree with the RPI and the way the committee does things, but if you look at the facts and the history of the selections, and the fact that the SEC is ranked 4th, they will probably get 5-6 teams in.

It looked like Tennessee beat Kentucky in every aspect of the game except the score. How does that happen? And at 8-7 in conference play what does Tennessee have to do to get in the tournament?

They probably need to win 3 or 4 more and stay in the Top 40 of the RPI

At least Tennessee fans can look forward to men's and women's hoops if volleyball season doesn't work out the way they want it to. Bruce Pearl runs an exciting style, and Candace Parker is one of the very few women's hoops players I would be excited to watch play.
It looks like Britenriker played well for Kentucky, but I am wondering if she will have the same problem she did at OSU. She is quick, explosive, and powerful and a threat on offense, but good teams in the Big Ten hit over her a lot. Will that be a problem in the improving SEC?

At least Tennessee fans can look forward to men's and women's hoops if volleyball season doesn't work out the way they want it to... Still lots of exciting volleyball being played. UT will be fine and with 7 sophomores and freshman getting substantial experience right now, the future is very bright. UT had 4 game point opportunities in Game 3 to take a 2-1 lead over UK and did not prevail. At some point, those match deciding situations will start going our way. Tennessee has the talent to make a run in the tourney this year. Remember that it was not until mid November last year, after dropping out of the top 25, that Tennessee made their charge and started knocking off top 10 teams on their way to the final four.
