Not sure that Russ would be a lock for COY. True, a younger team but the past 3 FOY along with the top recruit in the country who will, in all probability, be this year's FOY. You should do well with that line up.

On the other hand, no one else is really exceeding expectations. Sooooooo...
We should just send all these awards to PSU and let them distribute them.

The Big Ten has a new system for selecting POY based on points for kills, digs, blocks, aces. Based on stats, Hodge will pretty clearly be the POY in the conference, and she should. Does the Big 10 allow a freshman to be POY? POY is defined as a non-freshman award in most conferences, since it's understood that any freshman good enough to be POY is obviously going to be FOY, and they don't want to double-award anyone.

I saw PSU this weekend, Hodge has really improved, she looks much more comfortable on the court. I would not call her a strong passer/ballhandler, but she is definately competent. Her jump serve is exceptional, and the ability to set her the pipe certainly warrants keeping her on the floor six rotations. I think she should be a lock for POY and I would consider Harmotto right now second, over Fawcett. It isn't hard to figure out why they are winning the conference when the top 3 POY candidates are on the same team.

Wisconsin's problem in regard to getting awards is also their strength as a team, much like it was last year. If they are going well, no one is going to get set a ton of times, so they would have to have a great hitting percentage to record big kill numbers. That isn't going to happen all the time, so they won't have huge kill numbers. The balanced offense is hard to stop, though; the Badgers are hitting .284 in conference play. As for Wack, her dig numbers are down from last year, which I think is mostly due to less balls coming her way. If the block is solid for the Badgers, she won't be getting a lot of spectacular digs, which is also a good thing for the team. She is playing well this year. The team wouldn't be hitting at such a high rate if not for her passing and getting the digs right to Jackie so the Badgers can transition well, but that might not get you recognition except from your team and fans. Thus, the only stat in which the Badgers really might have great numbers individually on a consistent basis is blocking, but unfortunately most teams have figured out that trying to hit through Reineke is not a great idea. It is a credit to her and the players on the outside that she is still leading the league in blocks despite people not even seeming to try to challenge her a lot of the time. Thus, I would guess that only Simpson and Reineke would get all conference at this point, with Dolgner on the freshman team and maybe her or Carlini at HM. It is too bad about the foot injury for Carlini; she is really having a good season for the Badgers and might be a bit below the radar because of the time she missed.

Bucky, true in some regards. Their bigger problem is they don't have many if any players who are among the best 6-8 players in the league.

I could name at least 8 Big Ten teams who would like to have the Badger's bigger problem. Keystone, you really are too much of a homer at times. I thought that is what the All Big Ten Team was all about...save your "words of wisdom" till after the list comes out.

Bomber, I respect your opinion, and i'm not knowcking UW, I also agree that there are probably 8 teams that would like to have their talent. But that isn't what the thread is about. It's a simple question that really only requires a simple answer, how many if any of the top 6-8 players in the conference are Badgers?

In this whole thread, there is no mention of Bowman from Minnesota. I think the intangibles she brings to her team are really invaluable. She's like Minnesota glue. Plus, she's got great hair.

Ruffda, to answer your question taking in consideration I haven't seen all players I would throw in, Nelson, Bowman, Wallbridge, Reineke, Glass, Turner, and King. Wallbridge is a returning first teamer as well as an AA, she quietly has moved up the list in % and blocks. I think there are better players in the league for sure, but her numbers again are great and she is a returner.

Who are the top 8 players in the conference, All-Big10 aside? Fawcett Hodge Harmotto Then who? Ruffda, you're reading my mind....who are the top 8-10 players in the conference, keystone? Again, that's what I thought the All Conference team was all about.
