In this whole thread, there is no mention of Bowman from Minnesota. I think the intangibles she brings to her team are really invaluable. She's like Minnesota glue. Plus, she's got great hair. I can't believe she's only hitting .190 in the Big10. She's put together a string of decent offensive matches, I thought. But you are right: she's a vital part of the Gophers.

Who are the top 8 players in the conference, All-Big10 aside? Fawcett Hodge Harmotto Then who? IMO... Nelson Reineke Bowman Meyer And then the last spot to either Peniata, Wallbridge, Simpson, Main, Johnson, Brunzdzinski or Dolgner. Any of those would do.

Stats don't always tell the story, unfortunately when you name all-league/AA teams you have to use them as a measuring stick. If you take Bowman out of the mix, the Gophers get above average pretty quick. I think she would be the last player they would want to lose.

Ruffda, to answer your question taking in consideration I haven't seen all players I would throw in, Nelson, Bowman, Wallbridge, Reineke, Glass, Turner, and King. Wallbridge is a returning first teamer as well as an AA, she quietly has moved up the list in % and blocks. I think there are better players in the league for sure, but her numbers again are great and she is a returner. Turner (from Illinois) and King (from OSU)? Leave out Meyer and Bruzdinski? I don't think you'd get many to agree with you, and probably none as far as Turner goes. But here we go, I bet if you ask 20 people you'd get 20 different opinions.

Another question, which one player could each team not do without? Easy for some teams but pretty hard question when it comes to PSU.

"Bucky, true in some regards. Their bigger problem is they don't have many if any players who are among the best 6-8 players in the league." Bomber, notice how my post said "bucky" Which means I was responding to a specific post from a specific person. Come on Bomber, stay with me here.

All right, I'll bud out..... but I didn't realize we weren't supposed to comment when a reply was directed to someone specific. I thought this was a "forum".

Last year PSU had 5 and they won the big ten I think they will be close to that this year. Still 6 matches to go so we shall see?

Still too soon to tell 6 more matches is a lot. Keystone since you are in the know as always about Harmotto what's the resting status???

I don't know if it is true that Wisconsin doesn't have any of the best 6-8 players in the league this year. Last year, it probably was the case, but there aren't as many stars in the Big Ten this year. Is there a setter who is clearly playing better than Simpson is now? I don't see one. The only middle I would put over Reineke is Harmotto. Hodge and Fawcett are having bigger years than Carlini and Dolgner, but I would group the two Badgers with Johnson/Schatzle, Bruzdzinski, Turner maybe, Merlau, etc., etc. I think Peniata is in the top eight and the best libero this year. Trying to pick the best players beyond the PSU trio this season could lead to an argument that lasts forever. It has already gone three pages.

Harmotto over Reinieke leaps and bounds! As a PSU fan, I expected you to say that. But if you look at both player's conference stats, it's anything but leaps and bounds.....
