I'm watching the State Volleyball championships in Hawaii. Awesome game by the way! Well I know there's this hype about Alix Klineman and all these up and comers but I'm wondering if these two (Kanani and Jordan) have a place in UH volleyball in a couple of years. I know Kea Kea (which is an awesome setter) is going to Pepperdine. anyone else that's going to Hawaii? I mean, I haven't heard of Hawaii's upcoming recruits yet. Fill me in anyone! Thanks!

A previous post stated that Kanani Herring reminded one of Kim Willoughby. Strange, but Herring does not look like Willoughby at the net, but she sure looks like Willoughby hitting from the back row! Herring really slams the ball from there and accurately too! Maybe its because of her relatively short stature, her athleticism, and the ability to have a long running start from the back row. Very impressive. Cal State Irvine will get a great hitter in Larrisa Nordyke of Punahou. She had over twenty kills with just one error in three games. Nordyke had ten kills in the 1st game and was unstoppable most of the match.

How tall is she anyways? i was actually gonna say that the way Herring attacks the ball reminds me a lot of kenyatta lovelace (one of those undersized outside hitters with mad hops). but Herring's ability to take over a match is like Willoughby's. punahou slowed Herring down in game 1, but Herring simply took it to another gear after that, and punahou could not keep up as she hit from nearly every part of the court.... very nice player.... and she's got one more year to grow and mature in the high school, club and jr national team ranks.

Kanani Herring will definitely go down as one of the best players to come out of Hawai`i. For those of you that live in the islands she is one that is definitely worth it to go and watch. And you folks have one more year to do so. Like another poster mentioned Herring has the ability to take over a match and that's what she did last night. When in doubt Kea Kea went to her bread and butter Herring. She has amazing leaping ability. She was no doubt head and shoulders above the rest of her peers. She is the reigning state player of the year and she is on her way to win it again as she has improved a lot from last year already. It is just exciting to think how much more she can improve for next year.
Jordan Meredith is also a great player but, not at the level of Herring. Jordan really struggled in the championship match ending with only two kills and seven errors. But we all know that everyone has bad matches so this will not hurt Jordan in anyway. She too has one more year as well as fellow teammate Bekah Torres.
Kamehameha will be deadly again next season, maybe not as potent as this years squad as they do lose they're quarterback in Kea Kea. But they do return five starters next season in Herring, Meredith, Torres, sophomore middle Alex Akana and libero Tati Santiago.
