Yeah, I gotta say, this impresses me way more than the Klineman signing. Texas is looking like they're going to be the force to be reckoned with next year.

No way Texas pushes Nebraska next season. Everyone thought this could have been the year for Texas but the Huskers have once again proven that the path to the Big 12 title will ALWAYS go through Lincoln and it will again in 2007. They get Houghtelling back to replace Mancuso and their M2 position who is very young this year will only be better as will Halloway at setter. They might even run a 6-2 with Licht and Pavan on the right, Houghtelling and Larson on the left with the setters subbing for the middles like they did in 2005. This is a scary lineup with 3 AA's who all are dangerous out of the backrow. The Big 12 next year will be a two team league (NU and UT) with Oklahoma and Missouri both graduating their impact players.

I agree Nebraska will have the best combination of talent and experience, but you may be surprised to see the strength of the 6-2 Jerritt is thinking of running next year. Moriarty comes out in front row for Christian or Hooker to play right side while Engle sets. Christian is already experienced on the right side. Hooker's blocking will only get better, and believe it or not she hits even better angles from the right than from the left. Starting lineup will be: Engle Hooker (Jennings) Magee (Kisner) Doris (Kisner) Facuette Christian (Moriarty)
Faucette and Engle will alternate the back row attacks if there's trouble on the front row. The one rotation they're both in front row with Doris, he'll have Jennings and Kisner passing nails and there won't be a need for the pipe. The blocking will be much better with Magee back, the addition of Doris, and another year of training for Hooker, Engle, and Christian. ps Magee at 6'2" will be the shortest at the net.

I think Texas might have the most physical team next year, but Stanford will have a talented one.
They got two very lethal outsides that will draw a lot of attention, thus leaving one-on-one's for the middles. The outsides will also see seams in the blocks when you have Girard and Foluke running the slide. Mix in an AA setter and Erin Waller, then you have a very solid, experienced team. The only glich will be passing and ball control. We'll have to wait and see about that.
The difference between Texas and Stanford will be leadership, chemistry, and desire; all of the intangibles of the game. Who wants the title more and is willing to work their a$$es off in the preseason? Of course you have to consider injuries but hopefully, they'll have a very small amount.
It's going to be an exciting 2007 DI volleyball season.
By the way, height really doesn't mean anything. Hawaii blasted a taller Texas team last year and even outblocked them.

Also remember, 6'5 Doris and 6'2 Faucette is just as talented as AK and Barboza... I've seen these two young women play and they really know the game real well. So they won't just be regular freshmen coming in with jr. national experience but also they trained really well with the national team. So they both have jr. national exp. and womens national team experience also.

Is Doris fast and cagey (like Foluke?) Or more long and lanky? (like Paolini?) This season, we all thought Texas would be doing mighty fine. But so far, with all the injuries and unexpected losses, it sort of hinders the mentality of the players. Next year, I think Texas will be the team we thought of this year simply because they'lll be healthy, loaded with firepower, experienced and ready to prove themselves. Will next season be the one where the Longhorns come away with a win at Lincoln and in Austin against the Huskers? I think so.

6'5 Doris is definitly or probably not as quick as Foluke but quick for a 6'5 MB. She also has a very lethal arm swing and she can jump for a girl her size.

?Ahh...yeah... let's not forget that in order to run a succesful offense you need to pass thet ball first, and with all due respect to Jennings (who I think is very average) TEXAS CAN'T pass the ball
