In the interest of accurate info, the CIF Southern Section changed its rules this year to provide for competitive equity in its section championships.
The teams go back to enrollment for state.
In the past, the finalists in the divisions all advanced to the 16-team state tournament, BUT with teams playing outside of their enrollment divisions, that is NOT the case this year. I do not know the enrollments of the section winners, but all are guaranteed spots in the playoffs. Redondo is Div. II. If three others are D-II, Costa would be knocked out of the playoffs. I do not think that is the case, however.
Four teams from the Southern Section, two from San Diego and two from the Central Section will be in the state Div. II playoffs.

That's true, I forgot about that. The CIF-SS went to "league strength" as the basis for their playoff structure this year. So there is a disconnect once you get to the state tournament, which will be based on enrollment size.

Redondo Union just beat Mira Costa 15-13 in the fifth in the CIF finals. They served Klineman every chance and she didn't handle it well. That was the key to victory. Very high quality VB for high school. Redondo lost the first two and then won the next two. They were down something like 9-4 in the fifth and then came back to win it all. Last year Washington served Pavan every chance they could, and they eventually swept Nebraska for the Championship.

Last night I had the chance to see Klineman for the first time. Very good player. Best ever? Give me a break.
Another very good high school volleyball player, but not any better than Barboza, Richards, Morrison etc. were in high school.

Klineman is going to be very good but just based on just one performance, it is hard to see where that comment came from. However, maybe that wasn't typical. I've seen several "superstars" such as Pavan, Larson, Barbosa, Richards, (this list could go on to many schools) have mediocre matches but that doesn't diminsh the fact that they are still great athletes.
Obviously she made a good choice and I do wish Klineman a very successful career at Stanford ... just not if she ever plays Nebraska ;D

Sorry to hear about the loss. Alix is a phenomenal player and a great girl. Sure wish she had chosen UCLA though, it truly would have been her best fit.

Sorry about that. So that means the best team in high school vb with possibly the best player ever doesn't even get a sniff of the finals this year? Wow! I know, that's not very nice but if she had even given Nebraska a chance, I would be a lot nicer Why waste her time in Nebraska? LOL...you are right. She probably wouldn't have started anyway.

Falyn Fonoimoana is pretty good, I was at the match last night, and Falyn seems to be 6'1 not 6'3.. I think she is pretty good. But there middle blocker that is gator bound is pretty good.

So happy for Tommy Chafins (the Redondo coach). He is probably the most underrated coach in high school volleyball. Puts the godly coaches of Mira Costa to shame. About time he actually won one!

Well, I've had enough of Alix. It's time to focus our energies on the next girl on the list. I think Jewel has a sister who jumps out of the gym, passes nails, and has a bazooka of an arm.
