Who didn't vote for Harmotto, and should coaches who are on crack be allowed to coach?

I guess people are reluctant to give Russ coach of the year due to their talent. They did win the league, starting 2 freshman, 3 sophs. Evidently they are just rolling out the balls at Rec Hall and playing. I would have given it to Hebert before Waite, but Russ deserves some credit from his peers. Plus, recruiting is part of the job.

There are a lot of good coaches in this league and Russ is clearly one of them. I don't know how many times Russ has been COY, but I am sure he has a case full of them. I thought Hebert and George were worthy as well.

Absolutely....look what happened at IU. Weismiller was a poor recruiter, it seems.

I would have voted for George. Her team is in the tourney, after inheriting a disaster.

Also Wallbridge leads the league in attacking % and is third in blocks, and is honorable mention. Has anyone heard of that before.

I forgot about Kathy George. Good point.
Walbridge was probably just a victim of her teammates' success.

I should congratulate Pete and his staff. He is a great person and coach. I just think this award should have gone to Russ, George, or Hebert. I guess Stone making the line-up adjustment and finishing great would be both reasons for him to get and not get it.

The only thing I can think as a reason to explain Walbridge's omission is though her hitting % was high, she was averaging less than 2 kills per game. That's not a lot of offense, regardless of her effectiveness or not. Probably not her fault, as Ruffda pointed out, she was a victim of her teammates success.

Its official. I do not like Megan Hodge. 3 more years of not liking her! Maybe she'll learn defense next year and actually deserve an award like POY. Whatever. and Waite as COY? Committee is drunk apparently.

She was in passing rotations in big matches this year : Texas, Wisconsin. Granted, she didn't play that well, but Russ had her in there. I think she'll come along defensively and ball control wise in her years at PSU.

Wow. Are there really only four seniors on the list ? Kelly Bowman, Sr., MEREDITH NELSON, Sr., Malama Peniata, Sr., Marisa Main, Sr. The Big Ten is even younger than I realized. Not just Purdue. It used to be that this list was almost entirely Seniors, with a few lucky Juniors maybe. Congratulations to Steph and Sammi!

Committee is drunk apparently. Very gracious of you ruder. By the way, there was no "committee" for Waite's award. He was given that honor by his peers, his fellow coaches. If I were him, I'd value that a little more than being voted on by the press.
