Ok this thread is a bit different and fun IMO. If you had to pick an all american list of your personal favorite volleyballers, who would they be? Here is my first team group featuring a brief description.
1. Angie Lastra-Kansas St
She was SUCH a crowd pleaser as a libero, then the 5'7" athlete made a move to the outside and was really explosive and fun to watch. One of the most under appreciated volleyballers in the Big 12 and nation
2. Nellie Spicer-UCLA
So I like the crowd pleasers, she is by far one of the most entertaining setters in the game. Destined for UCLA glory
3. Kelsey Johnson-Boston College
This is a local favorite. Here in Boston there isn't much to watch live, but this girl really rocks. Anyone who has seen her play would agree. I love her approach and swings on the outside.
4. Arial Salvo-Utah
I like her passing, blocking and attacking. She is very deceptive and really shines, even as a sophomore.
5. Jordan Larson-Nebraska
Last year she was good, but this year she has been amazing. She is so fun to watch in terms of hitting and serving, and I like when she sometimes digs a ball and does this little spin on one leg. It's the little things.
6. Alexis Crimes-Long Beach
Had the pleasure of watching her live last year in the season opener against LIU. Reminded me of Danielle Scott. Super explosive and effective.
7. Marina Skender-LSU
Fun athlete to watch. She does the ultimate "dink" shot. I love her arms on her approaches, makes sense why she was freshman of the year last year.
8. Angie McGinnis-Florida
Fun, good setter, blocker, and attacker. But mainly, I love her facial expression during games, very even and balanced emotionally.
9. Brittany Lowe-Santa Clara
Although she didn't have the best year, I love her style of play.
10. Kristin Richards-Stanford
I love this girl. My favorite hands down! POY!!
11. Debora Seilhamer-USC
Nough said. Awesome defensively
12. Kira Batura-Northeastern
Another local girl who was SO fun to watch this year. Great hitter and great defensively!
2nd Team
1. Nana Meriwether-UCLA
2. Whitney Webb-Utah
3. Alisson Anderson-BC
4. Sophia Milo-Pepperdine
5. Jaime Houston-Hawaii (Against Nevada on CSTV she did this backrow type slide shot...ridiculous, since then I have really appreciated her)
6. Kelsey Bowers-Florida
7. Vanessa Freeman-LSU
8. Rachael Holloway-Nebraska
9. Jessica Van Der Kooi-Missouri
10. Stacey Spiegelberg-Kansas St
11. Jillian Davis-Cal
12. Christal Morrison-Washington
3rd Team
1. Jessica Swarbrick-Washington
2. Tamari Miyashiro-Washington
3. Kyla Roehrig-Minnesota
4. Christa Harmatto-Penn St
5. Katie Brudzinski-Michigan
6. Stevie Mussie-Washington (Her approaches are CAARAZY! She flies)
7. Kristen Carlson-San Diego
8. Rachael Dyer-BYU
9. Taylor Carrico-USC
10. Michelle Moriarty-Texas
11. Katelyn Bishop-USC
12. Ashley Edinger-Illinois
POY-Kristin Richards
FOY-Taylor Carico (Although Holloway and Miyashiro would be higher)
