OK, how is her coach letting her down? she's transferring because this kid is obviously better then her and she knows she can't beat her out. what college coach wants a kid that can't handle fighting for her spot. (i know, a lot of them if they are good enough). But bottom line, she can't handle not playing and getting beat out by a freshman. So she goes elsewhere and takes the spot of another freshman that thought she had the spot next. and then a coach takes her and lets that other setter down. unless she falls in a program that needs a setter because of injury, someone transferring, etc., she is making a mess for another program regardless. if anything, she is letting her team down by transferring and leaving them high and dry with one setter. it's one thing to leave when you hate being far away from home, struggling with the new lifestyle, etc., but you are a selfish player if you transfer for playing time or an attempt to win a title. that is the problem with kids committing so young. they don't know what they are getting into and then quit half way into it. Best of luck Krug, but remember, you transferring doesn't mean you'll be at a better place.
Colorado sounds like she will be there, but if she is LDS, maybe another mormon school? (BYU or Utah State?)

Many transfers find something better on the other side. Cumpston, Bown, Mason, Todd, Prince, Carlson, Johansen, Sandell, Mussie, Meriwether, Daley .... Or it could be more Jen Bowman-like .. three schools was it? ... but still, she went to a Final Four

interesting, Sydney Anderson originally turned down UW to play at Utah... sounds like she is the real deal. Actually Shannon Krug also turned down UW. Yeah it's true

(BYU or Utah State?) it's interesting that this is coming up. it's very reminiscent of all the threads about high schoolers changing clubs. It's not up to us to judge what they do. It's all about finding the best place for them. It's not being selfish when a player transfers; it is selfish of the team to expect the player to stay. Every situation is different for every person. so you're saying that once a player makes that choice to commit to a school, that is the end of their choice? That makes complete sense

So i've got a question. What are the rules behind transfering? I know that you have to be released and send that release to every school you want to talk to but what else?

Thanks utevbfan17! You are so right on. Langdon? How do you call someone selfish because they want to play and not sit on the bench! How on earth is that letting the team down? If any thing the coaches let her down. Soundss like shes making a pretty smart decison to leave knowing she don't have a chance of beating this girl out.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it selfish. Maybe Krug is too good a player to sit, especially since this is for Utah (and not like Nebraska or Hawaii). If she doesn't transfer, her starting days are probably over.

Colorado is probably not a choice. They have Kaitlyn Burkett a 06 Fab 50 setter ready to take over. They also have a setter coming in with the 07 class. Krug will go somewhere she will play and not sit. I'm sure she will choose a school that she is 99% sure she is the setter on day 1. I think Hawaii is a good choice, high level for a good setter.

Thanks vbmypassion for backing me up. It just doesn't make sense to ask someone to sit the bench when they are SO good just to not be seen as "selfish".

Wow, best of luck to her. Pacific is a place where she will start right away for sure. I'm a little surprised she didn't go to a top 25 school though. Even though Pacific will be improved next season I'm not sure they have enough to make the tournament.
