According to articles, it was due to confidence and the lack of game development. She hasn't progressed as well as coaches expected and she felt that if she sat out the year, she would have a better chance of starting next year. And she did get along with Wade very well. A lot of the players liked him so her transferring isn't out of the question. However, Arnott may simply not be interested in transferring. It is really involved process and if she were close to graduating, she may not want to leave and restart an academic career elsewhere. That being said, Pacific needs another decent outside hitter. To compete, they need another player who can put down the ball at the left side. For now, they have 3 players listed as outsides with 4 middles and 4 setters. So, to bring this back on track, Krug will be battling against 3 competitors for the starting job. Admittedly, all 3 were freshman last year so she has the experience that might get the starting job. I agree. I think with Krug's experience at Utah will definitely get her that starting position. You mentioned, Pacific needing good outside hitters. How are their middles? There's a lot of talk about Cal Poly and LBSU next year, but I think Charlie will get Pacific to that level again in a year or two. He is trying to get the type of players he needs to atleast establish a foundation for Pacific the next 2 to 3 years, and he has already with Krug.

As for middles, Johanna Hilburs (Jr.) made the Big West 1st team and Meagan MimMack made the All-Freshman team. I heard that the other middles, Vaysburg and Tomaszewsaka, developed nicely throughout the season. Tomaszewska might have played some OH this past year also. Just by the numbers it appears they need more hitters, but they will have Kara Uhl back next year.

It appears from reading the article she chose Pacific because it's basically guaranteed for her to start next year. Interesting that Washington was interested, but there were probably no guarantees as to starting for the Huskies, I imagine you wouldn't transfer just to sit on the bench. Just my opinion (feel free to disagree) it seems she's more concerned with playing right away, and less concerned with the overall quality of the team. If was playing and decided to transfer I would probably not transfer to sit on the bench unless there were some other factors that pulled me there like family, location... But on the quality of the team, I would have to say that Wade is going to turn this team around. He has already started by getting a Fantastic setter. I've watched Krug play and she has all the qualities of a great setter. She can take control of the game. I got to see Utah's match against Wyoming, the one where they went down 0-2 and then pulled it out. This win was largely due to the fact that Krug came in. She came in with a controlled deminer and lead the utes to victory. This may sound corny but Utah only won because Krug was on the floor, no one in attendance for that game could disagree with that. Well back to the quality of the team. My prediction is that Pacific will get some big wins next season. Yes this is even before Wade brings in the rest of his recruiting class.
