I find it rather odd nobody has mentioned a most obvious possiblity: Hawaii. Nobody wants to jinx it , huh?

No, Hawaii is not that desperate. LBSU needs a real good setter though. Their current setter sucks.

From her standpoint, she may not see it that way with Kanoe gone. But, ooops, I posted in the wrong thread. It was meant for the USBC setter thread. Sorry to Wolfgang and all others who did mention hawaii as a possible place.

Vargas looked really really bad against Hawaii. Even in spite of that we gave Hawaii a good run for there money....setting wasn't our problem, the lack of a L1 Hitter was and that will be rectified for next season.....I suspect that our setting this next year will be as good as Hawaii's will be

Setter transferring to Pacific STOCKTON - A skilled setter recruited by some of the country's best women's volleyball programs has decided to transfer to Pacific after spending the past two seasons with nationally-ranked Utah. Shannon Krug, a 6-foot sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo., has received her unconditional release from Utah and will enroll at Pacific next month after signing a financial aid agreement earlier this week, Pacific coach Charlie Wade said Friday. "There are a handful of setters transferring right now, and she's the best of the bunch," Wade said. "She's a proven and established Division I, 5-1 (formation) starting setter. A lot of other schools were interested in having her come in and start. I was told Washington was interested, and I know she had visits to Michigan State and Washington State." Wade said Krug could step right into the starting lineup ahead of Dancyne Kama, Olivia Riley and Carly Hiromoto, all of whom recently completed their freshman seasons. Krug started as a freshman at Utah, leading the Utes to a share of the Mountain West Conference championship and a trip to the NCAA tournament. She was named to the 2006 preseason All-Mountain West team but lost her starting position to Sydney Anderson, a freshman who went on to become Mountain West Setter of the Year. Krug ranks sixth all-time at Utah with 1,796 assists despite spending just two years with the Utes. www.recordnet.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061223/A_SPORTS08/612230332/-1/A_SPORTSIt appears from reading the article she chose Pacific because it's basically guaranteed for her to start next year. Interesting that Washington was interested, but there were probably no guarantees as to starting for the Huskies, I imagine you wouldn't transfer just to sit on the bench. Just my opinion (feel free to disagree) it seems she's more concerned with playing right away, and less concerned with the overall quality of the team.

Somebody tell Arnott she's not going to start also, so she should transfer to Pacific as well....

Somebody tell Arnott she's not going to start also, so she should transfer to Pacific as well.... Hey Arnott has got some vball skills.... the Rightside has an opening for next year, she would just need to improve on hitting from that side, as for blocking, I'd trust that the coaches can help her improve her technique... plus SR leadership. If her hitting gets smarter and stronger; and her blocking shows up, she'll be a solid Front Row OPP. Of course this is if she hasn't already left the team...

I checked the Pacific roster and Krug is already on it. Only one player was a senior this past year, so with Krug, the roster consists of 12 players. Of those 12, I do not believe all are on scholarship. That leads me to believe that there is room and Wade isn't done adding to his roster for 07. Any additions probably would have to come from either transfers or overseas.

I'm not sure all the details of why Arnott set out. I thought it was due to not having the confidence in her play. Do you really think she should be the leader on the court after that breakdown? Maybe I should post this on the Hawaii thread.

Maybe I should post this on the Hawaii thread. According to articles, it was due to confidence and the lack of game development. She hasn't progressed as well as coaches expected and she felt that if she sat out the year, she would have a better chance of starting next year. And she did get along with Wade very well. A lot of the players liked him so her transferring isn't out of the question. However, Arnott may simply not be interested in transferring. It is really involved process and if she were close to graduating, she may not want to leave and restart an academic career elsewhere. That being said, Pacific needs another decent outside hitter. To compete, they need another player who can put down the ball at the left side. For now, they have 3 players listed as outsides with 4 middles and 4 setters. So, to bring this back on track, Krug will be battling against 3 competitors for the starting job. Admittedly, all 3 were freshman last year so she has the experience that might get the starting job.

Pacific (under Jayne McHugh) originally recruited Arnott out of high school. But she was set on playing for Hawaii.
