Pavan should win volleyball and all sports Honda Cup. I won't dispute the volleyball award, but it's hard to imagine a college junior winning the overall award. If she has another dominant season, perhaps she'll win next year.

jgrout, I understand your point, but it's harder to imagine it going to someone other than the person who won every single individual and team honor you could possibly win, on and off the court. I think you would be hard pressed to find any athlete in the history of college sports who was there conference player of the Year, National POY, National Champion, MVP of the championship, and also won every academic award both conference and national.

Sarah would have a bright future with the U.S. national team. They probably would need her.

She's not eligible for the NCAA Top 8 award yet but I suspect she'll receive that too.

Clivehusker, what is the NCAA Top 8 award? "Regarded as the nation's most prestigious academic award..." " The award honors male and female student-athletes throughout the country based upon the criteria of athletic achievement, academic achievement and community involvement. To be nominated, students must have exhausted their athletic eligibility. The award is presented at the annual NCAA Convention in January." I think there are only 8 Athelete's total each year that can win this, so its the top 8 student athlette's all sports.

In 2004-2005, Stanford senior Ogonna Nnamani won both NCAA Top 8 honors and the overall Honda award.

True, if the award was chosen by a select group of volleytalk posters. also, she has not won "practically" every award, she actuallt did win every award she was eligible for. Conference, National POY, FF MVP, top academic awards conference, region, and national.

You're probably right. Poor Sarah, I am sure the people that hand out these things are trolling the internet as we speak looking for negative soundbites. VCRs are probably almost worn out as they go back and forth on each shot of her and judge her facial expressions. I can see the score sheet already: Deduct 10 pts for frowning Deduct 25 pts for not over celebrating after monster kill Deduct 15 pts for downcast eyes when she misses serve Add 20 pts for smiling Add 15 pts for touching a teammate (as long as it isn't a punch) Poor Pavan it's just not fair. Doesn't have a chance in hell in getting the Honda.

Actually, I'd probably add 25 pts. if she punched a teammate. 50 pts. if she punched an opposing player. And 1000 pts. if she punched Cook.

Are you kidding me with this?
