The league in Puerto Rico should be starting about now and ending in about March.

Well, I'm happy that Nana is at least still playing vball, but I hope she doesn't fall into the Puerto Rico trap. I'm sure some of the European leagues would love to get her. Doesn't Nana compete in track and field? Does her playing in PR mean that's over with?

They are on different teams, and at one time or another they will be playing against each other , REALLY SOON.. Neither one will be back this qUARTER. i AM ASSUMING THAT SINCE BOTH OF THEM ARE GETTING pAID TO PLAY THAT NEITHER WILL BE BACK AT ucla ON scholarship, AS THAT JUST MIGHT BE A ncaa RULES VIOLATION. bUT THEN THERE IS THE eUORPEAN'S THAT USE TO GET PAID TO PLAY, WHO ARE NOW ON sCHOLARSHIP AT A VARIETY OF cOLLEGES THROUGH-OUT tHE gOOD OLD usa.

They can't go back in the team since they were seniors anyways... But I do hope they consider joining the NT.

The thing about the beach is that only a dozen or so players make a living at it. All the others are going into dept. There's only so much beach prize money. They can't all go to the beach! If you are a national team caliber indoor volleyball player you can make a decent living somewhere. Very good point about the ability to make a living in the AVP. The way it is set up less than a dozen players can make a living at it, and frankly about 6 make a good living and the other 6 are just surviving....after that I can't see that they are even making expenses......make better money waiting on tables!

The biggest concern US has is not having OH that can terminate at the International level. With International sub rules you have to be a complete player on the outside. This of course is a concern for USA vb because their are only a few of these all around OH that have the potential to terminate at the interantional level. Those few players of course have already been mentioned above.

That's probably one of the NT's biggest problem. The players that can pass and hit are going to the beach because that's what you essentially need in beach volleyball. I also see a good future for Barboza in the beach. I wouldn't be surprised if she teams up with Kerri Walsh once Misty retires. I would think Misty will reitre with Kerri as her partner.

Nana and Katie can come back to UCLA with their scholarships. Being professional would prevent them from competing for UCLA, but their have used all their playing eligiblity, but it does not prevent UCLA with providing them a scholarship.
UCLA has a program that allows former athletes to return to school when they are done with their professional careers (or during the off-season) to complete their degrees.

Since the two of them are pretty close in age, it might seem so. I guess the other factors would be injuries, wanting a change in lifestyle, or needing to play with a younger (faster) partner as they get older. I still wish Misty and Kerri helped the US win indoor Gold in 2004. They could have played beach afterwards a la Karch.

Judging by interviews with both that have been televised, they are both planning on starting families after the 08 Olympics....I suspect that they both retire at that time.....Misty to go into coaching!
