If these Kids want to play for a national championship and become Olympians, they're not gonna do it at Ohio State or Texas A&M. In fact, there is only a small number of teams that would apply. I think Stacy Sykora played for Texas A&M, ever hear of her? And we all know how well her Olympic record worked out...

True, but if I remember correctly, when Sykora was there TAMU had legitimate (though less probable) Final Four potential. I think in 1999 they had a top 10 ranking and were blowing away many of their opponents until they met Logan Tom, Ashley Ivy, Sara McGee, etc. in the regional final AT Maples.

Yeah, really a sad situation. At Utah those players had guaranteed play time and a great outlook for advancing to the Regional Final, possibly beyond, next year. Now they get to play transfer roulette and wait almost two years, in which new recruits, coaches, and conference alignments will very likely render their decisions meaningless.

I understand kids can do what they want, but I always liked Beth and thought next year would be huge for them. Legitimately, these two are looking to transfer to one of a handful of programs, right?

With no true setter left on the roster, and it may be too late to get one for next season, it could be a struggle for the Utes next season. I would honestly not be surprised to see them fall out of the top 25 by midseason. I read an article that said the players still remain friends, I give them the credit for at least saying that publicly, it's something like this that can ruin a friendship.
As to the transfer roulette, well who knows? If we can take what they say about wanting to play for a national championship and olympics at face value it's true there are only a few schools that they could transfer to that would meet this criteria. The thing is do those schools even want them? They may not need another setter like UCLA or Washington, or already be loaded at OH like Penn State/Nebraska/Texas. These schools may not even have scholarships to give especially with recruting done so far in advance these days. You have to wonder given the circumstances how would they affect team chemistry.
Someone else mentioned transferring to Oregon or Wazzou, they may face the best players in the country, but they are not going to be playing for a national championship. I'm just baffled it seems they had just as good of a chance of achieving their goals at Utah then anywhere else. I said it before but I feel it really applies in this case THE GRASS ISN'T ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE!

Not trying to be funny or have a hidden agenda because I have never seen either players play, so I don't know, so I am asking: are they Logan Tom and Misty May good? Were they on the radar of the UCLA/Stanford/Nebraska/Texas/Penn State or was Utah a great level for them?

I always thought Anderson had more of an upside than Salvo, not sure why. Both are very talented, All-American type players. But neither is on par with the superstar level in college of Walsh and May.

To supply some perspective, each was ranked No. 10 in the Senior Aces in her respective class.
I thought Anderson was the best setter in the Class of 2006 while Salvo, who does everything well, is one of my top five all-time favorite players to watch.

This has turned into a really hot topic this season judging from the number of replies to this and that late transfers thread. Otherwise it's been really slow the past few months.

If they were ever considered for UCLA/Stanford/Nebraska/Texas/Penn State they were probably on the 2nd tier recruit level or even 3rd tier. Without doubt, they are very good players but not on the level of Spicer, Kehoe, Holloway, Engle, Barboza or Klineman(yikes, not even close), Pavan, Larson, Hodge, Fawcett.

John Tawa - you thought Sydney Anderson was the best setter in the class of 2006??? Better than Taylor Carico??? Better than Alisha Glass and Ashley Engle (granted they are setters/opposite hitters).
If Anderson was the best setter, why did Carico win the Andi Collins Award?
