There's been a lot of talk about Licht coming in at Nebraska. I've never "seen" this Klineman girl play, but everything i read about her sounds like she'll explode on the college volleyball scene thermonuclear. Any input from you folks out west?

She will be good, but i don't think she's the best 2006 recruit... Faucette from Epic was pretty darn good. She was able to TAKE OVER her matches, all while giving back to the team. Alex is a whiner and will destroy the team's chemistry cause it's all about her... I'm sure Klineman will do great things in college, but i think faucette is better...

Regardless of whether or not Klineman is a "whiner" (I think she's just very competitive), I don't think Kehoe, Barboza, Foluke, etc., are going to let one person come in and ruin the team's chemistry.

Faucette is really good and hits the ball harder than Klineman. But Faucette isn't as crafty with as many shots as Klineman. Also, Klineman is a better blocker, and I would say even on defense. Klineman has been very successful even on the international scene. And from what I have heard, Klineman is a very good teammate, not once have I heard that she whines, but she is ulta competitve.

Quite to the contrary, Klineman is very much a team player and never whines! I'll put my money on Klineman over Faucette and Licht.

Klineman plays great, definitely stands out even around other great players. She is amazing to watch in person. She will be a great addition to Stanford, they are extremely fortunate to land her.
Hey, Money, how do you know she is a whiner? Haven't heard that one before from anyone. What is your source?

I would agree that Faucette is a big banger, and Klineman a little more well-rounded. Does Faucette pass? I can't remember.

What high school did Faucette go to?

There is a connection to Youtube showing highlights of Klineman (and her team, but mainly her) on a thread entitled Mitty v. Mira Costa started on December 9 on this site. She is the tall, lanky one in green, hitting over the block from the left anntenna. She appears to have a good jump, great arm extension and exceptional court vision, hitting to whatever is open. Interesting to see how that converts to Pac 10 defense. The opposition, Mitty of San Jose, features Amanda Gil, a 6'5" middle committed for 08 to UCLA, and a number of Division 1 talents; being a private, Catholic school that attracts/recruits the best players frrom a good vb area. Mitty only lost twice all year, both times to Mira Costa, which loses about once a year itself.

I have seen Klineman and Faucette play a lot. Klineman is one of just a handful of girls who can consistently hit over all blockers; Pavan is another. She has also developed a lot of shots that she did not have a year or so ago. Her hitting % is usually very high, though she has had big matches where she has gone off and not been effective, but very few. She is quiet, but no one has ever said that she is a whiner. She is a good backrow player; not great yet, but certainly more than capable in the backrow. Stanford will have the luxury of leaving her in to pass and hit the pipe, or bringing in another backrow player like Lichtman or Ailes who can play better defense and also hit.
Faucette is a big banger, no doubt, but she can and does go off in matches, and when she goes off it is not pretty. She can hit negative in a hurry if she gets blocked a few times. If she does not overcome this problem, she is going to have a rude awakening when all of the blockers are big and waiting for her. May not be a huge problem in the Big 12, except for Nebraska, but it will be when playoff time comes. At this point she is not a good back row player, but improving.
All freshmen have to adjust to the college game, but anyone who has seen both girls play and thinks actual stats are important as opposed to just how hard a ball is hit, knows that at this point, Klineman is by far the more ready to make an impact at the highest level, IMHO.

Farmwatcher I agree that Alix is far more ready to be an impact in college. She has much more game than Faucette. Faucette can hit hard but is limited in the rest of her game (just watched them both in Dallas). Your statement about the Big 12 was confusing though. It is usually the best blocking conference in the nation. I think she will have trouble with many teams. I also think when she's ON she will be a monster. By her junior year, after learning about moving the ball around, she will be tough every night.

Klineman is a really rare player and deserves all the accolades she gets. The poster who said she is whiny is off the mark....but I think I know where they are going She is super competitive and has absolutely no problem yelling at a teammate when they are in the wrong spot or are not performing up to par...interestingly enough, the opposite never seems to happen, and Klineman does make mistakes. I doubt Klineman has ever been yelled at by a teammate and probably rarely by a coach regardless of what she does.....if she is able to take it as well as she can dish it out then she'll be fine.....I would love to see footage of her yelling at Barboza in a tight match!
