Pretty efficient scheduling. Go through the whole season without ever leaving the state of California.
Does Kathy have a fear of flying, or just no budget?

Yes, given that she has been a pioneer in California women's athletics since the 1970s, I bet KG does have Fear of Flying, probably on the built-in shelving in the living room.

Money Money – UCSB is not a sports university – Women’s Basketball had just one road trip to the East Coast, and Women’s Basketball is where the dollars go.

fundraising!!! where's the fundraising!!! there's lots untapped wealth in santa barbara and the surrounding areas - AD should enlist the boosters for mo $$$ The standard answer, when that question is asked, seems to be that it's a limited pool of money and it's easier to fundraise for one more elite academic than for athletics... hopefully when we get a new, motivated AD, we will see some change there. ETA: Of course, they haven't gotten around to announcing the schedule on the official athletics site yet, so that supports the general malaise

The schedule came from the AD, I mentioned that I wanted to post it and he had it sent to me.
The "official site" is a generic site (not sure who runs it), also do not know how items get posted on it. If anyone is familiar with this type of site let me know and maybe I can get some updates posted.

Scholarship money at UCSB is in short supply, it limits/restricts the recruitment of “out of state” and foreign players. SAT scores are a limiting factor; UCSB also has limits on total enrollment. NO WAY can UCSB compete with Stanford, or USC for players for any sport, there is just not that type of money available.

If anyone is familiar with this type of site let me know and maybe I can get some updates posted. Typically they're under the direct control and updated by the Sports Information Director and/or assistants. I remember back when the UC Davis website was using a portion of a photo I took of one of their NLI signees in a release. The caption noted "Photographer's name unknown". I contacted the Sports Information office there and eventually one of the assistant SIDs there had it changed to "Photographer's name withheld by request". He offered to have the photo attributed to "BearClause" but that would just be confusing. ;D ucdavisaggies.cstv.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/041306aab.html

The "official site" is a generic site (not sure who runs it), also do not know how items get posted on it. If anyone is familiar with this type of site let me know and maybe I can get some updates posted. The hosting is provided by fansonly, or the college sports network, or whatever the heck they call themselves now. As for who edits the content, it's one of the media relations folks. I asked Ben (can't remember his last name, and it looks like he's not with the media relations folks anymore) a while back why there were occasionally significant delays in the postings, and he just sort of laughed and said, "Well, there are 21 teams (this was when we still had gymnastics) and two of us to cover them all." Everyone at a university has different priorities, and trying to provide leadership in that kind of environment has been compared to the old problem of herding cats. As anyone who has owned cats knows, the way you herd cats is you control the food source. This is exactly what the chancellor has done, and unfortunately, that means some departments starve.
