So where is Kelly Ong? Also not mentioned was Amber Kaufman. You guys think she'll start at opposite or will Keefe get it back? Or maybe one of the new girls. I personally would like to see Otineru at opposite. She would be the only option at opposite that would be a back row threat. This allows both she and Hittle to be in the passing rotation. It would also allow Houston to be a secondary passer. Houston can hold her own at passing but is definitely not as solid as Hittle or Otineru. Of course, this assumes Hittle is healthy enough to hit. If not, I am not sure who Shoji will use as opposite.

From Shoji's comments it sounds like she's a pretty good passer may be ready to start right away. If not, the maybe temporarily move Hittle to the right and Otineru to the left at least for the early part of the season until Hittle completely recovers. At opposite Hittle can still be used as a primary passer she just won't be set as much.

They could see how Stephanie Ferrell will pend out on the RS. Or they could have Amanda Simmons train for that position with a bigger block. The only issue comes to passing. Houston isn’t a bad passer, but she still has a long way to go before she is passing nails. I am not going to buy the hype on Ferrell until I see her. To be a strong enough passer at the college level with only a few years of volleyball training makes me worry. But that will be Shoji’s decision. And there is the option of using a DS to pass for 3 rotations for the right side hitter if that position is held by Keefe, Kaufman, or Thomas. The options for Hawaii (again, assuming all are healthy) can really give Hawaii a lot of different looks. If they want a bigger block, Thomas is still an option for the right side, so I don’t think Simmons will see playing time this year.

Is Otineru big enough to block at opposite? I was thinking that Shoji stuck with Keefe and later Kaufman on the right last year because both were very good blockers. I have a feeling that Hittle may play as a DS this year. She'll probably still start, but will play only backrow, like Woolford/Duggins last year.

If Ferrell is ready to contribute and if she and Keefe and Otineru are better attackers than Hittle, then Hittle will probably end up as a DS. Or the libero. She's pretty mobile in the backrow for a tall girl.

you dislike me and I dislike you. Let's leave it at that. How about we leave it as you're an idiot because you can't seem to grasp the concept of answering questions. It's like what do you not understand English? Maybe online sign language might work for you. Or at least admit that you were WRONG!!

She's pretty mobile in the backrow for a tall girl. True, that those are a lot of "ifs." Keefe's hitting last year before she was injuried wasn't as good as Hittle's attacking during her freshman year. Assuming Hittle can get back on track as she was during her freshman year, it will be hard for Keefe and Ferrell to beat her out. And the fact that I say "assuming" is just another way of saying "if." Fact is that we will have to wait until the summer when more articles start coming out to see where everyone is standing once the season is about to start. Then we might be able to get a better idea where everyone will be playing.

Roy, I feel the same about Hittle. The way she attacked the ball was something else. Very qiuick! If she can get back to the old form, it'll be great for Hawaii and will be hard to displace. We just going to have to wait to see how good Ferrell is.
And aaronic, if you're reading this post, I mean no malice towards you. I think you got upset with me from the first time I started calling you "Ironic." Sorry. Keep a cool head.

Yeah... sure that's the reason. maybe that's also why everything I say about you turns out to be true. For instance, you really are an idiot, you really don't know anything, and heh I guess you really don't understand english either. I think calling me ironic really is the problem, eh.

Yeah, a lot of ifs, roy. I'd really like to see Shoji give Hittle another try at libero, especially since has been passing the longest among the Wahine. If she can get back to her freshman form, she'd be great at either left or right side hitter. Anyway, don't you think almost all positions are a bit crowded this year? Houston will obviously start, and Hittle, Keefe and Otineru (plus Kaufman) are available to play outside or opposite. I'm thinking Ferrell could redshirt, unless she's really good enough to challenge the above mentioned players.
