Just read the prepvolleyballs Top 30 classes. With 15 Honorable mentions. Pretty good list. Gotta be hard to figure it out but one thing I don't understand is why they don't consider JC players in the class. It's mentioned in the opening paragraph. Good stuff though.

Nice to see 8 of the top 30 classes hailing from Big Ten schools!
JT puts a lot of time into this list and it shows...

The reason we don't consider transfers or JCs is we want to assess the Class of 2007. JCs would be in the Class of 2006 or 2005. We also don't want to start considering a player multiple times. It does create some anomalies, I admit.

I am not paying 25 bucks for one small piece of information.

I am not paying 25 bucks for one small piece of information. I'll tell you for 20 bucks. Actually, it's worth the subscription. If I remember correctly, the Bowman/Nelson/Piniata class was ranked #4 in their day, and so was the Hartmann/Rohrig/Vatterodt class two years ago. That just leaves you wondering where the Dieter/Gibb/Cowles class is at. While this class might not be ranked higher than these two other classes, I think they will have the greatest impact -- and hopefully the most success -- by the time they leave. Lots of promise and potential as they supplement the current juniors and senior, plus the stellar recruits we have already for '08 and '09.

Actually, 5 of the Top 11 classes are from the Big 10. (And now we have our VERY OWN NETWORK to show them off.) One of the most interesting comments I saw on the site was that the classes ranked 1-5 are truly special (according to the author and the college coaches who supplied the input), but after that the next 12 classes are pretty unpredictable and there is not a lot of difference between them. (Paraphrased). They feel this is the case every year.

So where is Minnesota on the list? #4 Stanford is #1, Texas #2 and USC #3. There's no reason this can't be discussed here.

Any schools that surprised you on top 30 or honorable mention list? How about some small schools that got mentioned and are doing a great job?

Interesting to take a look back at the rankings over 5 years. Texas has had three #2 rankings in the last 5 classes and not a whole lot to show for it in terms of post season success. The usual suspects like Nebraska and Stanford seemed to have had the success that mirrors the class rankings. Florida is another team that had the ranking but it hasn't translated to success on the court.

John probably isn't going do much if that's all you say; He's posted top 5 for his lists before. If you start cutting and pasting his content, I'd expect a message to the board mods would get it taken down in minutes.

I agree. But lists like these are worthless if they aren't out in the community to be discussed.
I know it's not a perfect analogy, but it's similar to not posting the winners of the Oscars in a movie forum (or anywhere).

I just spent my lunch hour reading this list - what an awesome amount of time is spent compiling it! I feel like John knows something about every player in the top recruiting lists. (Although he says he has lots of help.)
Purdue came in at #7, and I think the comments are spot on. I was excited to learn a little more about Jessica Ullrich, and all the recruits. I can't wait for the season to start!!!
