I hear Ferrell can pound the ball harder than Klineman. I feel she will be another Kim Willougby mold for sure. Can't wait for the season!!!!

Klineman, pound the ball? You must be talking about a different Klineman. The one I know is definitely not a pounder of the ball, good player sure, pounder no, and maybe not for a while

ONE article, with ONE person who said that Ferrell can pound like Klineman, and the whole Wahine community jumps on the bandwagon. Granted, it's a credible source and I'd be happy as hell if it were true. But still ... its a bandwagon I tell ya... I do wonder, however, how much of an impact Ferrell can make her first year. Houston, Hittle, Otineru, Kaufman, and Keefe provide a lot of depth on the outside positions ... but I would think Ferrell could bump Keefe and Kaufman given experience. I'd love to see Ferrell and Simmons play, they look like they could bring a big time dynamic to the Wahine... Imagine Houston, Ferrell, Simmons, Kaufman. Mafua, Ka'aihue, and Herring all playing together next year ... that's what you call a DYNAMIC and ATHLETIC group of players.

Klineman is a very smart player, she likes to mix up her shots, and hits the ball straight down. Ferrell is more of a terminator type. I would compare Ferrell to Julianne Faucette of Texas, she brings a lot of heat. Next year Hawaii welcomes another dynamic player in Herring. Herring is the best player in her class in my opinion.

I would think that the Haley's (Ferrell's club coaches) would be good credible sources. But I don't jump on bandwagons.....I just know that Ferrell will be doing great things for the Wahine. I guess I used the quote on quote "Willoughby mold" was because of her picture on the UH site. It just brings up fond memories I believe. But nonetheless......I can't wait til season opener.

I get very optimistic at best when I hear comparison among volleyball players. There are many who came with high expectations and did "ok". Remember, Roberts in 1996 was the heir apparent to Ljunquist (sp?). She did okay, but nothing spectacular. Crawford was to be Tee Williams, but didn't quite make it.
The one thing I'm certain is that Shoji does a heck of a job of developing his players into athletes.

I was watching a few of Texas State/Texas match of the 05 season and noticed that Hawaii ran the crossing play a lot with Boogard. I'm hoping they could do that a lot more this season if they have a true OPP to do so.
Also, watching old videos, I hope they utilize Houston on the slide more often, front row or back.

I have not seen anyone in the country run a backrow slide or step-out ever. Seeing Hawaii run that slide last year was something new and exciting. But I think only players like Houston can perfect it because of their amazing jumping abilities.

I think the key to running that back-row slide set is to have the middle blocker go hard for a quick set. I believe that when they tried to run a double back, the opposing blockers were already on that side of the net, making it easier to slow down Houstons back row slide.

Back or front I can't remember specifically?

Isn't this typically the day that the roster is updated? Aneli and Brandt profiles were updated last week or the week before. Simmons and Ferrell - Yesterday.
