ONE article, with ONE person who said that Ferrell can pound like Klineman, and the whole Wahine community jumps on the bandwagon. Granted, it's a credible source and I'd be happy as hell if it were true. But still ... its a bandwagon I tell ya... I do wonder, however, how much of an impact Ferrell can make her first year. Houston, Hittle, Otineru, Kaufman, and Keefe provide a lot of depth on the outside positions ... but I would think Ferrell could bump Keefe and Kaufman given experience. I'd love to see Ferrell and Simmons play, they look like they could bring a big time dynamic to the Wahine... Imagine Houston, Ferrell, Simmons, Kaufman. Mafua, Ka'aihue, and Herring all playing together next year ... that's what you call a DYNAMIC and ATHLETIC group of players. who jumped?? b/w the original post and your post, there weren't that many posts, let alone ones that automatically "jumped on the bandwagon." or was your post just a reflex reaction ... fully expecting fans to follow like lemmings?? that said ... is there room on the bandwagon ... i'm ready to jump on board!! ;D haha. jump on man.

C'mon shai, you know they're top 10 every year! This year, no question.
PS. Glass ran the slide from the back row last year too with a lot of power. I saw her on FSN last fall on a Saturday when they would play Pac 10 matches every week. Is this something thats done every year? It was nice to see what the other power houses were up to.

Yes, she does. She's very determined to get her starting position back. I think she will be the first off the bench if Juli or Kari struggles or have an off night. Amanda Simmons is also pushing the veteran middles to play harder in practice, many thought Simmons would redshirt this year, but she is a very good player and a threat to the others if they don't bring their A-game.
Competition on the L2 and RS is brutal this year, but they have a lot of options now with Otineru, Ferrell, and Hittle. Now, it is too early to tell who will be teaming up with Houston on the leftside and who will start on the Rightside. But I'm sure whoever ends up getting the job will do just fine.

Leahey & Leahey
If you missed it on Wed. I believe it will rerun Sunday at 4:30 on PBS
Juliana and Kari join the Leahey's at the kitchen table and discuss last season and this season. Interesting and informative.

I think we can expect this team to do well this season, but let's not get our hopes up too high, eh? Nebraska, Stanford, Texas, and Penn St. could easily shred this Wahine teamn Yes, we do have some outstanding additions to the team, BUT, the setting will be an issue. Kamanao made things so easy for the hitters. We have a lot of new faces on the team, and these players will need to get adjusted to college ball. A solid line up (in my eyes) would be Houston and Hittle on left, Thomas and Gregory in the middle, Kaufman on the right, Lee at Libero, Kaaihue at DS, and I have yet to see Brandt set in order to judge the setting position. Mafua is good, technique-wise, but she is no where near an athlete like Kamanao. I think the following year, 2008, is going to be an awesome year, no doubt. Shoji should use this year to solidify the team's chemistry and get every player to see court time, and make a final decision on setter. I DO NOT want to be witness to another 2002 season (Vakasausau and Carey sharing setting duties - I still have not gotten over it )

What was wrong with Margaret Vakasausau and Jen Carey sharing the setting duties?

What was wrong with Margaret Vakasausau and Jen Carey sharing the setting duties? One could set the middles well, one could set te outside hitters well, one could set the slide well...but NO ONE could do all
