I admit it. I've been lurking on this board for some time and read several posts from people who claimed that Alix would not make an immediate impact at Stanford.
Even as she was named Pac 10 POW last week, people bashed her, saying she doesn't block well (have you seen how many shots she's altered? That doesn't end up in the stat sheet) or hit hard or pass consistently.
Well, she had 18 kills last night in three games. 18, 17, 16 and 15 the past four outings, all Cardinal sweeps.
She was HS POY last year and now the college world knows why.
I predict she'll be a four-time AA like her idol, Kerri Walsh

I have no worries about where this girl is headed.I admit that I wanted her to play for us and yes I'm jealous but she gets my respect and support.

Alix is awesome! Her blocking and defense are still not up to par but she's only gonna get better as she grows accustomed to college ball. It seems like she could be a very good blocker if she would only keep her arms a little closer together. She got hit in the face while attempting to block a ball against SMC. She put away one very good back row attack out of many attempts. I think it's because she got set the pipe in-system. Her jump serves are wicked. Very good placement. She doesn't seem to celebrate as much as the others, more like business-as-usual attitude. I just really do hope Stanford picks up their game before they play Penn State. Tonight's match against CalPoly and tomorrow against BYU will be very close matches especially if they play like how they did last night.

"Time to give her some props"? Please, she's been given nothing but props, and she's fantastic. But not the Second Coming.

When did Alix go into the boat fixing business?
Seriously, 2-weeks into her career isn't going to be enough to establish her fabulousness.

Please. If she was at HI you would be crowing her queen already.

I'd take her for MY team in spite of all of her weaknesses.
And if she fixes boats- that's gotta be a plus.

She was the Pac-10 POW while playing on the same team with Barboza in the tournament over the weekend. Barboza reieved the tournament MVP.
How does the Pac-10 pick Alix over Cynthia when the coaches at the tournament (that actually saw both play) picked Cynthia?

Speaking of hype, how is Michelle Wie doing these days?

I never have this urge to go to Maples to watch Alix play (probably because they haven't played at Maples yet...LOL!) unlike, say, Ogonna or Logan or Cynthia or Bryn. The funny thing is, I never liked Ogonna's or Logan's supporting cast, so I always had mixed feelings about Stanford matches. Oh, boy, it's great to see Ogonna or Logan but dang, why do I have to see those OTHER girls?

Klineman will in short order be a dominating force in college volleyball. Even the great Logan Tom, who some would call the Bobby Orr of women's collegiate volleyball, was not exactly perfect her freshman year. Klineman's height is probably the reason that it will take her a little longer to fully develop all of her skills -- especially blocking and floor defense. I predict she'll move to the next level and be a force there also.

In the Pac-10 anyway, each team nominates one player for PoW, and Stanford nominated Alix. Maybe Dunning wants to give her props?

It's also ironic to me that Minnesota's Brook Dieter is doing better stat-wise in almost every category than Alix against at least comparable teams and both being left side attackers. - | Alix Klineman | Brooke Dieter | Games | 16.000 | 16.000 | | | Kills | 73.000 | 75.000 | Attack Errors | 22.000 | 20.000 | Total Attacks | 168.000 | 171.000 | Attack% | 0.304 | 0.322 | | | Kills / Game | 4.563 | 4.688 | Attack Errors / Game | 1.375 | 1.250 | Attacks / Game | 10.500 | 10.688 | Kills / Attack | 0.435 | 0.439 | | | Assists | 1.000 | 2.000 | Assists / Game | 0.063 | 0.125 | | | Aces | 6.000 | 6.000 | Service Errors | 5.000 | 1.000 | | | Aces / Game | 0.375 | 0.375 | Service Errors / Game | 0.313 | 0.063 | | | Digs | 37.000 | 51.000 | Digs / Game | 2.313 | 3.188 | | | Block Solo | 2.000 | 6.000 | Block Assist | 4.000 | 6.000 | Total Blocks | 6.000 | 12.000 | Block Errors | 1.000 | 0.000 | | | Blocks / Game | 0.375 | 0.750 | Block Errors / Game | 0.063 | 0.000 | | | Ball Handling Errors | 0.000 | 0.000 | Ball Handling Errors / Game | 0.000 | 0.000 | | | Earned Points / Game | 5.188 | 5.625 | Errors / Game | 1.750 | 1.313 | Effective Pints / Game | 3.438 | 4.313 | Points / Errors Ratio | 2.964 | 4.286 |
