Zizka's a great kid, but I didn't know she was a setter. I've only ever seen her play outside and backrow. They list her as a setter on the website... Yeah, I saw that. Kinda odd to me.

There sure seems to be a theme in the Big10 for the start of this year - under performing. Penn State sure looks like the hands on favorite followed by Ohio State and then anyones guess. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Purdue may be in for a surprise and passed by the other conference opponents. So far Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State has shown they belong in the top 20.

What exactly has Ohio State done? They've had great wins over Maine, Ball State, SEMS, and Youngstown St. The win over Pacific is OK, but other than that?

This post is so inane....OSU's wins are against Maine, Ball State, Pacific (who is trying to pick themselves off the floor of their conference), and that annual powerhouse, Youngstown State. Not to mention the Buckeyes getting SWEPT by Colorado State. Top Twenty....?? Um, I don't think so. Samba, this is either a blatant attempt at trolling, or you simply don't know what you're talking about.

I don't know what to make of the Gophers, but I guess I'm not going to jump to conclusions based on one match. The team that played Stanford, Ohio and San Diego was not the team I saw on TV last night. So the question is: Which team are they?
On the other hand, the passing problems have been evident in every match. Makes you wonder what's going to happen in matches where the opponents come after them with tough serving _and_ keep them in.
I know samba isn't trolling, but I agree that OSU has shown nothing so far this year. Let's see how they do against USC and Oregon.

3 things MN needs: 1.) Improve their passing 2.) Serve more aggressively 3.) Find a consistent right side attacker/blocker

The Cal match was awful. MN needs to improve a LOT! I know the passing was horrible, but the setting was equally as bad. For how long Hartmann has been in the role, she sure doesnt show it. In her 3rd year, she should be running the offense and show some diversity in her sets. There is not a shread of leadership on the team right now. She and Jones are the most experienced players out there and neither of them are stepping up. Jones gets fired up, but doesnt play back row and the intensity leaves when she does. The defense is awful as well. These girls are lining up behind the block, not closing their arms when blocking, and aren't covering their hitters. And, someone needs to develop a line shot. Our OH's got blocked to hell because they only hit cross. Ok, that's my addition....

Hey, can I start the "Sky is falling" thread for Minnesota now?.........Where are you Wolfy?.....Help me out here. Don't call me, man, especially in a Minnesota thread. I'm done with this rag-tag crew at Minnesota. And I'm not referring to the players.

Let's give credit where credit is due. The Bears were BRILLIANT! They played with intensity and determination; their serves were aggressive, the attack balanced, defense was as good as it gets and their blocking shut down any attack that the Gophers tried to muster. A stronger response was expected from the Gophers but it was apparent that the Bears wanted it more. Mission accomplished. GO BEARS!

Hey, can I start the "Sky is falling" thread for Minnesota now?.........Where are you Wolfy?.....Help me out here. I doubt it's worth the effort. We seem to have some fans here on VT that prefer whining that trying to understand their team frequently has 4-ish (or first time players) on the court at the same time. Frankly, it's not just a Gopher issues as fans for a fair number of teams are into flip flopping (bragging when they win, denial when they unexpetedly lose, whining and band wagging hopping when they have poor matches, then hopping back on the band wagon when they start winning again.

To help keep things in perspective, the Gophers were not even close to having the worst performance of the weekend. That title would have to go to one Britney Spears. Possibly the saddest most painful thing I have ever seen.
