Any thoughts? Kinda surprised that Ohio State has so many votes when they lost to Northwestern at home, and Purdue isn't getting ANY votes at all?

Well some of you guessed it. NMSU moved up one spot (24) and Oregon (21) moved three. Both of whom lost to higher ranked teams over the weekend. I can see the reasoning behind that. They gave Oregon (pac10) a little bit more credit because they pushed Washington (8) to 5 and gave NMSU (wac) a little bit less credit because they pushed Hawaii (13) to 5.
If the rolls were reversed and Oregon pushed Hawaii like it did Washington and NMSU pushed Washington like it did Hawaii....I think the polls would have reflected a different outcome.

How can a 6-3 Texas be ranked at #7 when Washington is 13-0?

Except voters supposedly don't take into account the scores, just wins and losses.
Or do they just do it when they want to?

Because Texas lost to #1 Nebraska and twice to #3 Penn St, all teams above them. Who has Washington really beat other than Oregon in 5 this past weekend?

Knocking off New Mexico State in five carries more weight than knocking off #10 Michigan away in a sweep???

Somebody is gaining Michigan's votes. Wisconsin will gain fewer, since most voters already had them above Michigan. Cal, Hawaii, Duke, San Diego and Minnesota seemed to split them.
Kansas State and BYU also helped some of those teams.

The list of who isn't in the top 25 is telling. LBSU, OSU, Notre Dame, Pepperdine, CSU. Texas has proven as much and as little that they deserve to be where they are as Washington. Haven't lost to anyone below, or beaten anybody above. Has anyone done less to be voted #11 than Michigan?

Duke at #14 is based solely on a home win over Purdue, unless they are getting credit for going 5 with USC.
Dayton's at #16 based on Illinois and Purdue wins?
Is Purdue this year's Hawaii? That is, everyone's being ranked relative to them? Sort of, except Hawaii is also this year's Hawaii.

As to Michigan, no, but their next four matches -- all to lower-ranked or unranked teams (Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan State, Northwestern) -- will present them abundant chances to settle closer to where they should be. And, to be fair, voters did dock them a lot of points this week.

Cal loses its only match of the week, at home, and gains 23 points? Oregon goes 1-1 and gains 136 points?
PSU goes 0-2 and loses 4 points?

Dayton at #15? Who have they beaten besides Purdue and Utah, neither of whom is rated nor getting votes? Washington at #8? Who have they beaten besides Oregon?
I guess I don't understand the anti-Michigan sentiment. Shoot, they are between Wisconsin, whom they lost to, and Hawaii, whom they beat. As the AVCA poll goes, this is as rational as it gets.
To act as if it is some embarrassment that they are #11 is silly. It's the AVCA poll, it's the way things work (note that they did even drop this week, despite only losing to a team ranked higher than them)
