If UCLA and USC are too high, then it would make no sense for Stanford to have gained votes on Nebraska

Yes, but Duke is a really good team. Who would you rank above them? They took USC to 5. Last year they missed the Sweet 16 by a couple of points in a five gamer. They're a quality team, playing in a not so quality conference. Kind of like Hawaii, Florida, Dayton and San Diego. I don't think so. The NCAA tournament rounds can't be used since 2001 because of the regionalization. If the NCAA Selection Committee seeded all 64 teams, than yeah, let's use it. But that's not happening soon. A sweet 16 on the east coast still has a bunch of patsies playing in it while a first round on the west coast could have 4-top 25 teams. The jury is still out on Dayton, sorry. One year doesn't do it for me. San Diego has just recently emerged from the WCC, but the WCC is still a top 5-6 conference. Florida historically has been in a lousy conference, but the last 3-years have seen a huge turnaround in the SEC where they are vying for top 4-5 conferences. Pablo has Duke at 34, which I think is still generous. USC was not the USC one will see come NCAA tournament time that first weekend, lots of injuries, several freshman starting, I don't buy that close match.

If their schedule was that weak, why did pablo have them #1 last week? And weak or not, they are undefeated (for now, at least). USC and UCLA are still too high. Washington deserves better, for now at least. Why? Washington's win over LBSU certainly isn't impressive. Nor their wins over cupcakes: Fresno State, CSUN, BSU, Morgan State, UNF, Jacksonville, and New Orleans. Then, they have those impressive wins over Gonzaga, Florida State, and San Francisco. Of their non-conference schedule, I'd be shocked if ANY of those teams make the big dance this year, including LBSU.

I actually don't think they should have gained ground. If UCLA and USC are too high, then it would make no sense for Stanford to have gained votes on Nebraska

Could you provide us for the basis of your statement that USC and UCLA have been improving steadily? I am assuming that means they have improved week by week. What is the measuring stick?

That would be hilarious if it actually made any sense.

lol 4 top 10 team played each other this past week and absolutley nothing changed in the rankings. I honestly think that this solidifies my claim that those top 10 teams are pretty much intact for the rest of the season. As long as each of them don't have some unexpected loss, the most they will do is jockey around in the top 10, but I can't see any of them falling out unless they have an unexpected loss. The Pac-10 schedule will make the difference on which Pac-10 teams end up where, which could have a slight effect on the other teams. My guess is that the poll will look like this after the regular season is over 1-Nebraska 2-Stanford (Only see them losing on the road at perhaps Washington) 3- Penn State 4- USC 5- Washington 6- Florida 7- UCLA 8- Texas 9- Wisconsin 10- California I'm a husky fan and I think they'll go undefeated at home again this season (including a win against Stanford). Plus I think they'll take out one of the L.A. schools at home... GO HUSKIES!

Is Nebraska any good when they don't play in Nebraska? Have they ever played outside of Nebraska (excluding conference play)?
Also, when Washing beats UCLA and USC, which could happen, they will move up ahead of those teams. Until then they don't deserve to be any higher, and I like Washington.
The real problem is Florida. They'll be at number 6 or maybe even higher and all they need to do is beat LSU one more time.

I am of the opinion, Stanford is a clear 2, NU clear one, who are the 10 coaches that voted for Stanford??? PAC-10 coaches? j/k......I don't see how Stanford could have any 1st place votes or gained anything unless NU loses or gets taken to the wire at home by a bad bad team. they haven't really even had a slip-up, granted all their tough games have been at home, yes the qwest center is home court for NU...not trying to take anything away from Stanford, because i think at a neutral site, it would be one great GAME!!!!!! I wouldn't even think of predicting a winner
