Well DUUUUHHHH!!!!! ;D
Hawaii will play one game pretty close, probably game one (because Pavan usually starts slow) but possibly game three if the first two are relatively easy and they get complacent in game three. I'm sure Hawaii will get in the 20s for all three games which is more than most teams have done against the Huskers. I'm also sure there will be some great rallys because Hawaii should be able to keep a lot of balls from hitting the floor but I think the Husker's out-of-system offense will take over the match.

Hmmm.....Tired legs eh! Oh well, we won't have tired legs. We're all rested up and ready to go. ;D I'm sure by these type of comments from Hawaii fans, everyone can see why Nebraska fans, and other (mostly midwestern teams') fans hate and rag on Hawaii so much. . If Hawaii gets their ass whooped it'll be because the Wahine didn't play well/the fans bachi-d it. Besides, I think the Wahine won't be as well-rested as you may think, they did have to travel from Logan, UT back to Honolulu and then board another flight way up to Lincoln, NE..... time zones and jet lag need to be put into account. .

Why not just stay on the mainkand until the Nebraska match and enjoy the majestic beauty of Nebraska.

It will be interesting to see what sort of a student group shows up tomorrow. They held out 500 tickets for the students and they can get in free by showing their student ID.

This will add absolutely nothing to this thread, but I thought it would be interesting to see what the history between the two teams looked like. It is online at: www.hawaiivolleyball.betterperson.net/rainbowwahine/opponents/nebraska.htmlHere are some highlights: First Meeting: Dec 12, 1975 (Hawaii wins 3-0) Last Meeting: Aug 26, 2005 (Nebraska wins 3-0) Current streak: Nebraska 1 match winning streak against Hawaii Record @ Lincoln, Nebraska: 2-2 Nebraska leads overall series 6-5 (.455) My workplace is going to have all its radios tuned to the game tomorrow and we'll be cheering for Hawaii all day. We all know who Nebraska is and we know how good they are and how dismal Hawaii's chances look, but we're looking forward to the game, regardless of the outcome (well, except for one lady I work with who is a diehard Stanford fan and is still salty that Nebraska won last year's championship game...she wants Hawaii to stuff balls right back into Sarah Pavan's face). Go Bows!

It's not as if I don't think Hawaii has a shot or won't win, it is possible, but I have seen Nebraska play this season (not just against Iowa St. : , and I have seen Hawaii play. I just think the Wahine really need to have everything and by everything I literally mean everything together, and based on what i've seen they aren't there yet. Good luck to them, they will need it. They are capable of winning, they just need to play their best ever...

Given the way Nebraska played last night in games 2 & 3 against Kansas I would say Hawaii has a decent shot at winning this match.
Huskers were extremely high-error last night. The Devaney center is my least favorite place to watch volleyball and I don't think NU as played great there.
If Hawaii limits their errors, serves tough and plays great defense they could very easly win.

Hawai'i is going to need Gregory to block in the middle and Keefe on the left. I'm a bit worried about Otineru. Her height has been an issue even against WAC teams. And if it goes more than three games, she might struggle.

And if it goes more than three games, she might struggle. You'll need more than one person blocking both middles. If you don't have two blockers on each, they will chew the defense to pieces. I think they hit about .450 last night with only two errors. The problem is that if you double up on the MBs, you leave gaps in the blocks to the outside and CHot and Pavan will shred those holes. I may be wrong but I don't think ANYONE has really slowed Nebraska down this year, however, they have done it to themselves on a few occasions. Your best bet is to play the best offense you are capable of on your side of the net and hope NU is not at the top of their game.

Given the way Nebraska played last night in games 2 & 3 against Kansas I would say Hawaii has a decent shot at winning this match. The best shot at getting a game off Nebraska is to just roll over in the first game and let NU win easy. Then when they get over-confident like they did last night and get sloppy, you play your best game to catch them off guard. NU hit .533 last night in the first game and was near perfect. Then they dropped to .288 and finally .150. It wasn't that KU was playing better (they only hit .095 that last game), just that NU got really sloppy because the first game was sooooooo easy.

All I'm saying is they will need Gregory to come in and block.

This will be an interesting game. The Huskers have not played well in the last few matches. Sloppy play and concentration is going to be a concern. It always drive me crazy that NU does this sort of out to lunch phase in the middle of conference play. They need these Hawaii and Texas back to back matches to get re-focused. -
