You could try... Why did she win it? Something about leading the team in kills and recording two straight double-doubles as the Huskies swept two top-10 teams.

Sigh. I realize what Washington did. I want to know how her numbers stack up nationally and am not in the mood to look it up.

With two wins over top 10 opponents and Cal and Stanford playing down to the Zona's the only question really was whom would Jim nominate. You basically can't win it during your "travel partner game" week, so Newcombe and Rourke were out.
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- WASHINGTON outside hitter Christal Morrison has been named the Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 15- 21, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Morrison, a senior from Puyallup, Wash., helped the No. 5 Huskies to sweeps of No. 4 USC and No. 7 UCLA last week. Against UCLA, Morrison tied for the team lead in kills with 13 and also recorded 12 digs with four total blocks and one ace. On Friday against the Trojans, Morrison had a match-high 17 kills and hit .333. She also added 10 digs, five total blocks and four aces.
Over the last two matches, Morrison had 30 kills (5.00 kpg), 22 digs (3.67 dpg), 9 total blocks and 5 aces. Her two double-doubles contributed to her third straight against a Top 10 team and her eighth of the season.
Morrison earns the honor for the second consecutive week. It is her sixth weekly honor overall and Washington's 23rd Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.
Also Nominated: Margie Giordano, JR, OH, ASU; Angie Pressey, SR, OH, CAL; Sonja Newcombe, SO, MB, ORE; Rachel Rourke, SO, OH, OSU; Bryn Kehoe, SR, S, STAN; Nellie Spicer, JR, S, UCLA.
2007 PAC-10 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Sept. 4 - Alix Klineman, STAN; Sept. 10 - Foluke Akinradewo, STAN; Sept. 17 - Asia Kaczor, USC; Sept. 24 - Stevie Mussie, WASH; Oct. 1 - Foluke Akinradewo, STAN; Oct. 8 - Cynthia Barboza, STAN; Oct. 15- Christal Morrison, WASH; Oct. 22- Christal Morrison, WASH.

Congrats to Morrison! She is one of my favorite DI players - great serve, solid attacker, and good backrow skills. I was hoping she would transfer to Hawaii (Ashley Engle too). Oh well.

I personally thought Angie Pressey had a great weekend. I felt she was the single reason Cal won against Arizona. She refused to let her team go down. She made backrow saves that were phenominal.
By the way Husky.. Cal didn't play down to Arizona, they fought for their lives..... Arizona outscored them in the match, just as you outscored them when you lost to them.

I'd like to read up on Tama if you don't mind sending the link to the article you're referring to. The commentators on the UW/UCLA match were very complimentary on Miyashiro as she played a great match. It's also the first time I've seen Hagglund play, and she's very good. Where did Deesing's slide go?
