The last few days, I watched the Olympics with my wife, two daughters, and one illegitimate son. And as I watched the Games on my 63" Sony high-def screen and then looked at my illegitimate son, I kept thinking to myself, "Hey, I think the Chinese are cheating." I won't give you a long flashback scene of why I thought of "cheating" when I looked at my son, but that's what prompted me.
Cases in point:
1. Those Chinese male gymnasts. Never have they done so well in international competition. And that one guy who was able to do that maneuver (I don't know the technical term, not being a gymnast myself) on the rings was staggering.
2. Those Chinese female gymnasts. I swear I believe Bela Karoliy when he said the Chinese are using underaged girls. Those girls did not look 16 to me. They were, at best, 12.
3. The Chinese swimmers. Last night, in the butterfly (200m), Chinese swimmers finished 1st and 2nd in world record time, beating out the previous world record holder, Jessica Schipper, who finished 3rd. People don't advance that quickly in swimming.
People, correct me if I'm wrong. Tell me my beliefs are unfounded.

Who cares if the Chinese are cheating. The Olympics are a farce anyway. Cheating, Professionalization, and ridiculous hype and commercialization. More importantly, stop reminding your son that he's "illegitimate". You're going to give the bastard a complex.

I do think there have been some sketchy stuff.
1. I think the victory of the men's team and Yang Wei for his individual all-around title has been overdue. They have the most talent and the highest skill level. They have a history of choking so I'm actually happy they were overcome their past mistakes and the overwhelming pressure they must have felt.
2. They are cheating. The judges should just penalize these girls that are clearly 12. I thought their scores were inflated too.
3. Who knows. Every Olympics holds doping controversies. Maybe something will surface later.

I didn't know Rogers and Dalhausser were Chinese.
Interesting.

Bela did indeed say they were using underage atheletes. "It's a well documented fact that the Chinese girls are underage" is the exact quote. Then after the medal ceremony where the U.S. received silver "Even though China's girls were way too young they took gold" Caused his cohost crazy amounts of stress.
Also, the reasoning behind the inflated scores for the Chinese gymnasts is that they have a higher "starting difficulty" Gymnastics is a sport of deductions, not earned points. Their routines start with a score of x, then whatever of the overly extensive and incredibly over detailed list of deductions are removed so it's x-y giving you score z. Because x is greater for China, z is also. It's ridiculously lame in my opinion.

Has Marie-Reine Le Gougne turned to gymnastic judging now?

I suspect the USA men gymnasts are girls. I know Tim Dagget is.

I have never trusted them since the whole Pearl Harbor incident.
On another note....funny to hear Bela complaining. He uses correct aged girls, but then just gets them to develope eating disorders to keep them small.

Back in Bela's day, there was no age limits. I think the reason Bela is so ticked it because he fought against the age limits. Comaneci was 14 when she won the gold in Montreal.

Wait a minute...why don't you trust the Chinese because of Pearl Harbor? That was the Japanese.

The Chinese attacked the Japanese at Pearl Harbor? That must have caught 'em by surprise.

What were they doing in Hawai'i? Can't they just fight over on their own continent?

I heard the U.S. intelligence community knew about the Pearl Harbor attack before it happened, but the powers-that-be let it happen to give the U.S. a reason to enter the war. I don't think they knew about the Chinese's attack though because, as we all know, the Chinese were cheating and so, couldn't be detected in advance. Those cheaters. Even cheat in war. What's next? Love?

The simple solution is to add a 5th event -- wrassling. They can do it on the pommel horse if they want.
Pommel horse? Is that how it's spelled?
