I know the Ohio State setter got MVP, then Lakeland's lefty setter, the outside that is in grad school, and the middle that will graduate from graduate school in a few months all got first team, then lakeland's tiny libero got 2nd team

The OSU setter got MVP??? Watching the stream online, I figured that Versen(#6) would be the MVP.
Extremely early, but any predictions for which teams are going to be good next year?

Surprised by the setter on ohio state choice, although he is a good player.
That time of year: who does everyone lose?
I figure Julkowski and Avdo have to have used up their eligibility by now. Anyone else on Lakeland?
Wayne, Hessling, and Sederberg have to be 6th years at this point. So they'll lose like half their lineup.
Will the guys on OSU be back?
Other teams losses?

With both Lakeland and Oshkosh losing those players, I cant really see them winning it all next year, but then again both teams recruit so you never know who they will have next year.
Who does Illinois have coming back? Both Deeke and Doug have 1 year of eligibility left. Will they be playing next year? Other than those 2 most of their starting line up should be 4th year Seniors next year.

Had Utah Valley played the rest of the day like they played against us in the morning, they would have won the whole thing no contest.

oshkosh loses wayne and sederberg; hessling is done unless he goes to grad school. however, oshkosh has a lot of good talent on their d2 team and always has solid recruits.

also for lakeland i think this was avdo's 6th year, but julkowski still has a year of eligibility if he wants

Defiantly thought luhrson was gonna get mvp, he created every big point they needed, but seeing that setter work with what he had in the past I'm not questioning it,he defiantly holds that team together, heard a rumor once that he is one of the ohio states varsity team coaches' son and tried walking on the team or something of that sort, can anyone confirm or deny this?
Oshkosh 2's won the D3 nationals I believe so they should be OK regardless losing some key players, Lakeland has the middle who compound fractured his leg coming back, i feel like he would have started in tandem with Avdo but with Avdo outa eligibility they will def need him but either have their second middle step up big time since Lakeland has always had an extremely solid duo of Middles and aside from other issues in the game last night when Avdo was not in the front row there was no presence in the middle. The setter and libero are both young and if julkowski comes back they have that freshman that came off the Badger Region HP team that saw some qaulity playing time this year, #4 I think, from what I hear though he is super cocky and needs to grow up before he can be a dominant leader on the court.

Crazy that Julkowski still has another year. I swear he's been there forever.
Oh and VTMiddle, you can say the same thing for Illinois. If they had played the rest of the bracket like they played against Oshkosh, they easily would have swept the tournament. They beat Oshkosh in two and were playing mighty fierce. It's how volleyball goes.

Agreed with houseparty and slamjam, dont start talking just because you got a 1 ranking at some point this year but what did you do with it when it counted....nada...Lakeland did play a very disappointing match and they are well aware of that, also noticed that Ohio State looked way more relaxed, calm, and looked like they were having fun on the court while LC looked like they were just trying to hang in the game and playing not to lose which will not win you a championship. Blocking was poor as was serve receive by LC, their All-American setter turned and burned on that one ball late in the 2nd game and I thought that was the jump start they needed to get back into form of how they played the rest of the tourney. Also just to note, the announcers were aw-full, not only did they not bother getting any names phonetically spelled, but they were struggling on the color commentary. The video feed was GREATLY appreciated from those who could not make it but lets work on getting some announcers in their who put in a lil more effort next time. Congrats to Ohio State, I do not know the answer to this question so ill put it out there....Ohio State is the first Big Ten team to win a National Championship since _____? ...EVER!!! Funny that most would assume that Illinois, or Mich St (back in the day) would have been the first one to break thru. Until Ilinois two years ago, no Big Ten team had ever played in a Final. BTW...I watched yesterdays match on Web. I've watched roughly 15 NC games previously (going back as far as 1990), and while I have seen some less than great teams make a final, I can honestly say that the only other NC final that was as bad as yesterday was perhaps Maryland beating Florida in 96. And that Maryland team woulda throttled the OSU team I saw yesterday. I was thinking if some VB fans were watching via web for the first time, they must have come away with a bad view of the level of club VB. Too bad! Was the Arena far from the other games? It seemed liked a smaller crowd for the Finals too, maybe everyone knew how bad it was gonna be.

I was there in person and it seemed pretty full, but someone in my group also mentioned that there seemed to be fewer people there during the women's DI final but did fill up for the men's final. Access to the main floor was also very restricted this year. I also agree the level of play for the men's final seemed to be down compared to some of the earlier gold bracket matches. Can't wait until next year! Anyone know where it's going to be at?

again, a stupid comment. UV beat you guys cause they played phenom, no doubt cause I and the rest of the people standing around the court saw. But while you were too busy whining off somewehre else UV bounced mizzou who is a solid team and played well all weekend, then played OSU and played just as well as they did in the morning just had a string of mistakes at the end of the 3rd accompanied by a couple of great blocks in a row by Luhrson that did them in. And honestly, do you think before you post? I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say no because of the just plain crap you add to discussion. Your profs must be annoyed with you.
With that said, Everyone that was top level this year and in past years is likley to stay there unless U of I has deeke come back so he can blow it...again, though we all love watching his dad be more into games then the team. Also some teams have some massive holes to fill...Lakeland, Oshkosh, but they are good teams and youngsters will mature and step up and a whole new crop of talent will roll in next year, for example the U of I frosh OH who played really well this year. It will definately be interesting with some old faces hanging up the sneakers but I don't anticipate a massive power switch to different teams. With ages of players that I know of and seeing teams play, my prediction is that the gold bracket teams of this year will in all probability make up most of the gold teams next year.

The quality of play of the finals was very low compared to past years. People agree with that. Utah Valley, when they play their best, was the best team at that tournament. People agree with that. Why do you continue to talk %*$#?
