Settle down, there, junior. I'm not really excited or happy in any way about this match, or any match going on tonight. I just wanted to join in the drama that permeates any UH vs. anybody thread here on VT. So since you like company...can I come over to your place tomorrow? ;D or is it Kolohekeiki..? haha... Okay...any word if ESPNU will rebroadcast the regional finals?? not excited about the matches? you must just love the company then ...

I do not think Dave is resting Kaufmann. There is no way he takes her out in a match like this. She is either hurt, or he felt he wanted more defense at middle because he felt the hitters could get it done. Either she is hurt, or it was strategic for this match IMO. I don't see how it could be strategic, she's gotta be hurt... but I really hope she's not. I don't see how just setting the pins will work against stanford. Especially with Aneli not 100%.

That's exactly why it could be a strategic move for THIS match. Setting the pins was getting it done. Illinois' big middle leads the country in blocks. Amber is not a good blocking middle. He likely traded middle offense for good middle defense, knowing the outsides for UH were dominating. I agree with you, tomorrow is a whole new match. I expect to see Kaufmann. UNLESS, she really is injured. I believe this was a strategic move on Dave's part. He rested Kaufmann, got good defense in the middle at the net, and got all the offense he needed.

I dont know, Dave is way too conservative for this type of thinking. Hoping Amber is good to go tomorrow or that Alexis steps it up.

An excerpt from the Honolulu Advertiser:
"All-conference middle Amber Kaufman came out near the end of the first after aggravating her abdominal strain. She did not return for Hawai'i. ...
Kaufman came out in the midst of a UH mini-rally that cut the Illini's deficit to 23-21 and she did not play again, sitting on the bench in tears before she was taken to the locker room."

Let's hope Stanford-Michigan goes 5 sets. Tomorrow's match will be decided by who has legs left. The Wahine worked hard tonight. Ice up dem knees, Aneli.
