But again, if Hawaii can out pass, serve, and defend Illinois, Hawaii wins. They really exposed USC's lack of quickness. I was really impressed by the way they play defense. BTW do the Wahine stay on the continent or did they fly home? The Wahine are back home for a couple days, the girls are catching up on homework and some rest before heading back to Palo Alto.

They are STUDENT-athletes and not just athletic students as the NCAA commericials keep harping on. BTW, does Hawaii have finals next week like most schools that are on the semester calendar?

I just spent 6 minutes watching highlights of the Hawaii-Illinois 1992 Holiday Bowl game w/ Michael Carter and Travis Sims.

What has that to do with student athletes?

Last year Hawaii stayed on the mainland during the week before Regionals- wonder why they did it different this year?

Travel can take a toll. That is one of the reasons I get so irritated that Hawai'i is never allowed to host.

Yes they have finals to worry about.

It's impossible for me to make an unbiased prediction for this match.
However, for all of those saying Illinois has issues with their libero, check the stats from Saturday. Feldman is not Edinger, but she set a school record for digs in an NCAA match on Saturday. She's doing just fine.

SShhhhh!!! let them keep thinking we can't pass, our middles can't hit, and our Libero can't do squat. They think they are experts and know more than us about our team. Unfortunately I'm sure their coach and players know better than some of their posters.

i have not seen Illinois play at all this year ... just know about their results on paper. if the teams/coaches have to do a video exchange of their most recent game before regionals, then the fans should be let it on it too!

Hawaii fans are posting all the telecasts from local hawaii stations, of all the big games of the season, including the NCAA games. I love that. But, no other team has extensive footage on youtube like Hawaii has. Are you not hurting the team by putting this stuff out there???
I wanted to scope out Illinois. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Wahine, every big match they've played all year.

Wahine, every big match they've played all year. Not hurting them anymore than in the past. Hawaii has always been one of the easiest teams to scout. The reason being that virtually all their home matches are televised in Hawaii. What's to stop mainland coaches from just calling up someone they know in the islands to tape those games and ship 'em over. Plus, the internet streaming of the games -- which of course is becoming more and more readily available at a lot of schools. And then there's us fans getting on here and analyzing the team's play to no end ...
