also, someone mentioned like an hour ago, on the first page of this thread...wow this is moving fast, but what else would you expect from the legend (3rd Wizard of Westwood - with no disrespect to John Wooden or Al Scates)....have an interim next season to have enough time to hire a candidate.
i don't think that's the answer or their plan. Andy is staying until June 30th, that's more than enough time to find a well qualified candidate, and don't doubt that he'll be involved in the process, as well as his former boss and coach, Al. What a shock would it be if Al retired after this year as well, and they both go out walking off together in the sunset...

I like the thought of Stoops but really, I'm going to place my money on Pete Carroll.

75% percent of the people posting in this thread absolutely have no clue when naming replacements.

who wouldn't consider mike sealy; assuming he's still at hawaii when shoji retires - he's a shoe in for the position. if hawaii, why not UCLA right?

Makes sense, but I think she really likes being an assistant and did not enjoy her 1 year interim experience as HC. She's had many offers before...she likes where she is and what she does.

Nothing against Karch...but throwing his name as the top of the list is a stretch. He has no college coaching experience...no head coaching experience...and no real experience managing a staff, and only 4 months of experience managing players. Him coming in as an assistant is very possible...but a head is pretty thin.

Honestly, Karch has zero relevant coaching experience, but...do you need to have that at UCLA? Karch is your head coach, recruits all the good players, then your assistant does the actual coaching, like Corlett, a UCLA grad. :-)
As for Sealy, I think there's a difference when you're IN the program and might take over.

I'd put my name in the hat. I hope UCLA overlooks the seven year gap in my resume from 2002-present. Getting proficient on the PlayStation, PlayStation2, and XBox was very important to me. Or, are you still in the BIG-house?

Maybe Mike Sealy was waiting for this opening when he turned down LMU's offer. (I still say he looks like "Michael Vaughn" of "Alias.") Not if Kim Jagd has anything to say about that! She is definitely the front-runner. Unless they're looking at someboody else.

Let's see, UCLA will have a new coach and we've got lots of 2010 recruits who haven't signed NLI's, including Falyn F.

Andy has been one of the best coaches for the sport of volleyball. Congratulations to him for all his years! This explains all the threads about the girls leaving the program. And it wasn't that hard to figure out. I'm sure Andy's resignation was a factor in their decisions. Good luck to all involved. I'm not sure if I agree with "this explains..." I think it leads to more questions.
