SEC gets a minimum of 4 this year. Auburn needs to do well the second half of conference to lock up the bid. The big shock? We're not even talking about Kentucky!

Any teams that could at large qualify from a 1 entry conference if upset in a conference tourney? (i.e. Central Arkansas type ) How many conferences have tournaments for VB? The WAC does. Does the tournament winner get the auto bid? Because clearly Hawaii would be an at-large team. I can't imagine a scenario where Hawaii does not win the conference tournament.

In 2009 the following conferences didn't have tournaments: 1. ACC 2. Big 123. Big Ten 4. Big West 5. Ivy League 6. Mountain West 7. PAC 10 8. SEC 9. West Coast A large majority still have tournaments to decide the automatic NCAA qualifier. However, most of them are likely to be single bid conferences, even with an upset tournament winner. The B12 had a tournament. Though the NCAA referred to it as the Omaha regional. LOL.

I can't imagine a scenario where Hawaii does not win the conference tournament. You have a strangely limited imagination. Here a few words to stimulate it: flu food poisoning

How about Hawaii stays home to host a tournament that is being held in Las Vegas? Or vice versa?

How about Hawaii stays home to host a tournament that is being held in Las Vegas? Or vice versa? The WAC tournament is in Las Vegas because it's a neutral site. I don't think they want Hawaii to have home court advantage. Since they lead the nation in attendance every year. Also it's always going to be about the money. If not for the money Hawaii would be hosting regionals every year.

With a little under three weeks left of season the bubble is getting tighter. As of now, it will be hard for any team with an RPI above 50 to get in, with three teams with RPI's in the high 40's/50 fighting for the last two spots in the field. Here is my breakdown (changes are in bold):
America East - 1 Atlantic 10 -1 ACC - 5 (Duke, UNC, FSU, Miami, VT) Atlantic Sun - 1 Big 12 - 5 (Neb, ISU, UT, Oklahoma, Mizzou) Big East - 2 (Cincy, Louisville) Big sky - 1 Big South - 1 Big 10 - 8 (Illinois, PSU, Minn, NW, Purdue, OSU, Mich, Indiana) Big West - 2 (LBSU, CSF) CAA - 1 Conf USA - 1 (Tulsa) Horizon - 1 Ivy - 1 Metro - 1 MAC - 2 (WMU, Ball St) MEAC - 1 MVC - 4 (UNI, WSU, Miss St, Creighton) Mountain West - 1 (CSU) NEC - 1 OVC - 1 Pac 10 - 7 (Stan, Cal, USC, UW, UCLA, U of A, Ore) Patriot - 1 SEC - 5 (UF, LSU, UT, Ole Miss, Auburn) Southern - 1 Southland - 1 SWAC - 1 Summit - 1 Sun Belt - 2 (WKU, MTSU) WCC - 1 WAC - 1
Teams that fell out:
SMU
Teams fighting for a spot:
Wisconsin Pepperdine Georgia Tech
Teams still hoping and needing help:
New Mexico Villanova SMU Northern Illinois

Thanks for the list.
One question: Why is Oregon in and Wisconsin is in the bubble?
When I look at the nitty-gritty I see: - almost identical rkpi - Oregon is 0-5 against top25 and 1-3 against top26-50 - Wisconsin is 2-7 against top25 and 0-2 against top26-50
To me they both look very much like bubble teams that each need one more good win.

If the season ended today both would be in the tournament. If you look at the total number of teams that are listed there are 62. You can argue that Oregon is fighting the next three weekends to be in the tournament as well.

sidenote, "Miss." is the standard abbreviation for Mississippi, not Missouri. so your MVC listing should include "Mo. State" instead.

I checked the rankings on Pablo and the Big West and West Coast Conference should each have 3 teams in the tournament.
If you have done this in the past and you are close to what the NCAA does. This is sad. Five teams from the ACC, no way. Cal Poly SLO 3rd place in the Big West would destroy at least two of the five ACC teams.
