Kipp was/is the top middle for the youth/junior teams. Didn't play last year cause of injuries. But she has always been regarded as the best middle in the country. Yes she is great and potentially more valuable on a pin down the road, but she will be fantastic year one filling for Alade. She's certainly is quick enough to play middle -- very athletic and would be able to close the block. I'd like to see some video of her playing middle recently, but maybe it doesn't exist because she has been playing mostly on the pins. No question in my mind she could hit any type of set in front of the setter, like 1.5/2 sets. Slides I don't know.

I haven’t seen Kipp run any slides since her 15’s days with Dan Odell’s Momentous squad..... but back then..... they were money! She also ran A’s (back 1’s) really good off of one foot and in front of the setter as a youth player!

Vicini doesn’t run the slide ever... Kipp being experienced on the pins should make the slide no too difficult for her to perfect

She would no doubt improve fast if she hasn't been training at MH recently. Her versatility from the middle (offensively) by the end of the season would be tremendous.

I may be reading too much into this, but Kipp said in either the VolleyballMag article or in her post-game interview that she is excited to contribute in whatever way she can to the team next year. It makes me think that she has had a conversation with Hambly along the lines of: We really like you as an outside, but we got this McClure girl that is pretty good. So unless you show 1st team AA caliber (passing included) in summer camp as an OH, we are going to use your middle skills to win the 2019 Natty. 2020 will begin your reign as the heir to KP. As a side note, saw Kipp out in Huntington Beach the other day, and man can you tell she has been putting in work in the weight room. Makes me think that we may be underestimating how good a middle she can be since the last time we saw her play the position in any quantity was when she was still maturing. I thought the same thing. It seemed she went out of her way to make that point. What will matter is how things look to Hambly when all the players are in the gym in fall camp.

It's likely Kipp is the starting freshman, Vicini can start MB2 for her Sophomore and Junior years, who knows in her Senior year.

What about McClure at libero for her senior season? 2020 Now THAT i can definitely see happening, especially with the loss of Hentz, but at the same time, if kipp plays middle, all their pins will be new when it comes to the position in college (ie not starters). Hambly may want that leadership and experince mcclure can bring.

If someone can step up at opp and allow Kipp to play the left, McClure could be a great libero with practice.

What about McClure at libero for her senior season? 2020 Why though? She's a good hitter, and they have a fantastic libero coming in after Hentz.
