Merete has improved a lot. I never could have seen her taking high out of system balls from the left pin, if she's already improved this much in her versatility in under a month, I wonder where her potential can bring her in a couple years time.

Maybe I'm senile, but I'm pretty sure I've seen them in at least two distinct locations. 1. In section 4, maybe 5-6 rows up. 2. Mostly, I've seen them behind the end line where home team serves, within first 3-4 rows, and closer to the team benches. Is that the area you're talking about? #2 is the only place I have seen them. #2 is correct, however not an absolute lock. They could be several rows up, or even anywhere in that section. Many current team member parents typically sit in that section also.

I'm not sure that she'd class that year in the "fun" category, but it does mean she's on her 4th coach, possibly a record for an assistant. Dude, "fun fact" = trivia ! Report him! 😉

Dave Tipton Defensive Line coach Stanford Football was an assistant for 5 Head Coaches. Still another fun fact

Question to debate:
I notice that the rotation when McClure, Gates and Gray are in the front, we have a hard time siding out. With only 2 hitters and both are not so terminal, why don't we run and 6-2 this rotation and bring in Xu to set from the back. Replace Gray with Fidelek or Berty to have another option to se to. Just a thought. What do you think about this plan just for this rotation?

“She has an incredible volleyball IQ,” Hambly said. “The level at which she understands the game is probably better than a lot of coaches in the country.” Bold statement there..

Or just have Berty come in for Mcclure front row all together. Or Kipp, when healthy Several thoughts: 1) We won a national title with this rotation and Gates is a better hitter than Alade so I am not sure this is a big issue. 2) Kipp isn't hitting any better than McClure and frankly when she was subbing into the front we also got stuck in this rotation. 3) If McClure plays all six rotations we only get this rotation once while it occurs twice if we sub out for McClure due to passing issues. 4) Not sure subbing in a cold Berty, Kipp or Fidelek is a great idea. McClure is a pretty experienced player who doesn't hit it out a lot and generally can work her way out of these rotations. 5) The double sub seems even more problematic to me in terms of using up subs and having to adjust to a new setter to have a cold hitter who isn't exactly terminal. 6) The real answer is KP in the back row....

I would also argue that Stanford maybe LOST a national title with this rotation. If you remember in 2017, McClure in ro. 4 in set 5 was where Stanford got stuck vs. Florida.

I'm not really arguing that Alade was a better hitter than Gates- or anyway that Gates' ability to hit the slide suits her better to the team's offensive needs, but it is worth pointing out that Alade ended last year at 1.91 KPS at .409, while Gates is at 2.32 KPS at .315. Agree about the importance of Plummer from the back row.
