they came together and wound up winning the hole tourney. Down south (south of Wisconsin, that would be), we like to call it the "whole" tourney.

Let me start that I think Lakeland is one of the best teams in the country. However, you put a giant bullseye on your back when you essentially tell the world that. So, I don't understand why people are so shocked by the fact that people "dare" undermind the fact that they claim they are the best. When you want to be the best and announce it to all, you have to be prepared to deal with it.

The Big Ten has their round robin tournament this weekend also (at Purdue, I think).

The Big Ten Round Robin is that weekend, at Purdue, some competitive matches will happen there. As far as the Midwest 10 playday, Marquette-Oshkosh rematch at 9:50. THAT SUCKS TO HAVE A BIG MATCH THAT EARLY!!! I also want to see what happens with Notre Dame. It will be an interesting test to see how good they really are. They have finished highly at tournaments, as well as beat us in three, but playing Lakeland, Oshkosh and Marquette will be nice tests for them. They could be a darkhorse, especially if Lakeland has trouble with outsides. My opinion (which means absolute s%^t but I like to say that I was right) is that Marquette wins it.

I think by the time Lakeland gets to Marquette they are going to be a little tired anyways. They don't have a match off where they just sit until the last match of the day! Should be interesting to watch.

Schedule is tough for Marquette and Lakeland- Marquette plays Oshkosh, Notre Dame and Northern Illinois (who beat Oshkosh in pool play) all in a row. Going to be a good weekend. I also think Indiana might be the dark horse in Big 10 play. They will go as far as their outsides (Reid and Lepp) take them.

The Midwest 10's will be another good test for all the teams. No easy schedule for one single team. Each team will have their hands full all day.

It's true it will be a long but exciting day. Who knows what will happen when teams start getting tired.

Reid - a mere shadow of his former self who couldn't even finish out day 1 of the Hardwood. Lepp - sure he looked awesome last year when the rest of his team could hardly spell volleyball. Seeing him actually have some success in a team setting is yet to be seen since he was carried along his freshman year. He had players yelling at him last year at Big Tens. Are you sure he actually plays nice with others? Then again, apparently this is the team with the secret of success over Penn State, so perhaps I'm being too rough.

i'm not here to start an argument, but i have to disagree that he was "carried along" his freshman year. the indiana teams of the past were awesome with reid, jt, "adam corolla" at middle, etc. i in fact believe that alex made these players better in his first year. last year, he kept that team alive and was the one who kept a match against semi-finalist marquette intersting. the basis of my argument: this past summer, i had the chance to play with alex. the kid works hard, has fun, and keeps everyone up on the court. he can "play nice with others"

And Dave will be in shape and fine, it just takes the elderly (including me) some time to get things rolling. Oh and the key to beating Penn State is ................... good luck with that fellas.

Let me just say first that it was quite a chore going back to about 130 pages (2 1/2 or so) years ago of this board to figure out what the heck my username was here. But, sweet life for me, I found it.
Thanks for the nice words Tom "Anywhere" Liszka. Vegas is officially about six weeks away.

And so I shall respond.
--There was only one kid on our team last year that couldn't spell volleyball. It's not Mikey's fault, he was dropped on his head as a child. --I've had success in a team setting, but success is relative to the situation you are in. 4-5 in the Big Ten and finishing in the top half of the Hoosier-Illini while going 2nd in our pool were both great team successes considering our depleted level of talent. --Our 3 game matches with Michigan State and Lakeland were huge team accomplishments, even without the victories, as it helped team morale and gave us increased confidence going against other opponents. --Another great team success was our ability to play tight with our opponents in our first pool at Nationals last season which included Marquette and Penn State. Marquette probably got a lot more from us than they anticipated, and we made teams work for victories. They aren't wins, but again, you have to be aware of your situation if you are going to make it out of sports with your sanity. --You know, not all of my teammates in the past have loved me. I'm outspoken. I'm in love with myself. I'm goofy as hell. But I play hard, and that's what people want out of a teammate. Sure I got yelled at last year at Big Tens, but it was actually a huge breakthrough for our team who to that point lacked emotion and passion for the game and for winning. With that said, being in charge of lineups can suck, haha. --Was I carried my freshman year? I don't think my teammates that year would say so, but they might just be saying the "right thing." I thought I did my thing out on the court. I don't know. Ask Will.
Finally, I am most upset that I have now broken my oath of staying away from posting here, and it's a difficult habit to break. So yeah, I guess I am officially off lurker status.
OH YEAH! I forgot to mention. Dave out of shape is likely better than your O2, so I'm over it.
