I agree. Pepperdine or Hawai`i with a couple of key plays should have been in the FF. You have to add ISU to that list. Many have observed that we didn't play as well against FSU as we did against Minnesota. ;D Agreed!

What happened to the theory that whoever came through the Hawaii region would be so battle tested they'd breeze through the finals. Anyone remember all the posts saying that? USC survived a very tough regional in Honolulu, they could have been gassed from the travel and the amount of energy they expended against Hawai'i and Pepperdine. Perhaps fatigue offset whatever benefits they would have gotten by playing against tough(er) competition. I give USC credit for what they accomplished this season. If Illinois was sent to Hawai'i and USC was sent to Florida would we even be having this conversation?

That was a great match - especially match point. Congrats to both teams on a great season and good luck to Illinois.

I know this may be a shocking thought but maybe, just maybe IL is better than USC. Of course that might make them better than HI too??? Perhaps, could have, would we, life is full of IF's. Maybe FL could have beaten USC. I'm certainly not slamming USC. They deserved to make the FF and did. They got beat in a close match. Posters have been complaining about all the polls, seeding, rankings all year but They were right about the the HI region only. Maybe the committee was right. IL IS the highest seed left. We ARE talking about maybe's aren't we.

Jupiter was excellent of course, but home town player, Shaw kept hitting to the same spot over and over again. Don't remember her going line at all.

Oh boy, the Illinois contingent is really starting to feel their oats. [/quote And why not with so many west coast trying to diminish their accomplishments, and come up with why Ill should not be in the final but their team should be. And even the few PSU fans who refuse to acknowledge Ill. Pure and simple bad sportsmanship and lack of reality. Illinois is right where they should be playing an incredibly good UCLA team. 2 teams left, 2 teams that earned the right to be there and deserve to be there. EOS.

Weird. I thought I watched a hard-fought match with periods of excellence from both teams. Turns out I watched Illinois standing by while USC tossed the match to them.

Haven't read through all the posts so maybe someone else mentioned it, but last night is when USC really needed Falyn F. (instead of Shaw). She could have been the difference maker.

After watching this match I can now understand why Penn State had so much trouble terminating against Illinois. If they continue like this UCLA won't be winning too many games.

Oh boy, the Illinois contingent is really starting to feel their oats. OMG!!!!! This is coming from the biggest basher in the history of VT. Mr. PSU is the only decent team in the universe. You're really earning your title of troll here.

I thought this was a very entertaining match, but I don't think it makes my top 5. Great defense on both sides. Illinois received serve very well, and their OHs were excellent. Fun to watch.
But to make the top of the all-time list, I would like to see a little more attacking from the middle. USC couldn't receive serve well enough to run middle very often, but even when they did it was coming straight at you in front of the setter. How often did USC have both hitters in front of the setter? Illinois ran some effective slides, but with their great ball control I expected to see more of it. Seemed like a lot of moon ball sets to me on both sides of the net.
Still a very hard-fought match by two of this years best teams, exactly as you expect to see in the FF. I hope the final match will be just as close.

The man has one of the first "troll" designations for a reason. Respect it. You'll feel all the better for it.
