I wonder what methods will be entertained to coax all coaches into ranking properly. All I can foresee is a weighted point system or ccman's proposal.
Ccman's proposal makes perfect sense, but the entertainment value will drop since there would be a ton of quick matches and few barn-burners. One positive I see is the lower teams would get to play up, but there is a tipping point where no teams will take away anything after winning/losing 15-3. I'd like to see an unseeded tournament play out and see what happens, but at the end of the day the sport needs spectators and fans. Fans like close games.

Driving home after tourney, looks like I missed a lot of chatter but I heard enough drama while I was there. Being a "fly" on the wall, I collected a large amount of info from all teams, etc. involved, a lot of scandelous info, some of which has been touched upon already. But let's talk about the good stuff:
The venue was awesome! The weather was perfect! The volleyball was excellent and you couldn't have asked for a more dramatic pairs final! The sand was soft, smooth and white. The water was fairly warm depending on where you're from. The courts were spaced nicely with plenty of room in-between. The announcer was adorable ;-) One of the sponsors, "The Hangout", a restaurant/bar (overlooking court 1) was where many of the "power" discussions took place. The Hangout served typical Southern food, with everything from grits and beignets to fried oysters and fried pickles topped off with delicious Sweet Tea. It was an audience participation restauarant in the afternoon and the evenings were filled with music from many popular bands. It was a great "Hangout" and added to the ambiance of the weekend.
Volleyball part 2 to follow...
