Expect some changes in the rules to give a disincentive for forfeiting matches. This isn't good for the sport. I understand strategy to win championships but forfeiting should not be one of the options for an emerging sport trying to gain respect.
Edit: I posted this before I saw the above post. Sorry to repeat need for rule changes.

why change anything?? so what if some matches are forfeited, once a team has won
you want them to continue to play and expend energy on a meaningless result??

I wonder how NCAA tennis does it (in terms of rules about forfeits and lineups)? Same match-play model as sand.
Sandbagging is a dilemma. Kind of a spirit of the law vs. letter of the law thing at this point. The principle behind NCAA match play is to seed your teams in order of ability - your best team is your #1 team, your weakest team is your #5 team etc. That's how Pepp, USC, Hawaii, and FSU have set their lineups this season. What LBSU does is put their 2nd best team in the #5 spot and their 3rd best team in the #4 spot. Gimillaro's thinking is that he has a #1 team capable of beating anyone (Ledoux/Roenicke), and he's willing to sacrifice his #2 and #3 slots in order to pretty much guarantee his #4 and #5 teams will be much stronger than the competition's (who are actually putting their two weakest teams in the 4/5 spots). He's looking to win the overall match 3-2. What he's doing doesn't violate the rules, but it does go against the intent of the rules - and it's led to some increasingly bad blood between LBSU and the other schools.
I would expect there to be rules tweaks in the future - this is all very new, and I think the NCAA/AVCA are still very much still trying to find their way.

Johnson and Jackson was placed 5th due to size and lack of experience on the beach. I don't even think those two wanted to play in the first place. Yes they have improved greatly over the season and maybe they should have been moved up. But, Brian has never been one to make changes after he's made up his mind.

how do we know LBSU's #5 is better than their #2?
what new rule do you want - the NCAA is going to make out line-ups? The NCAA is going to tell the coaches who has to play where, that's rich.
seems to me there are pretty stupid opposing coaches if they figure they can beat LBSU's #4 & #5 by putting the right teams there and don't do it.
just more BG bashing and sore losing
fill out your line-up card and go play. sheeshh. tennis line-ups have higher ranking players play below lower ranked players all the time.

#4 team consist of a player that hadn't played in two years because of injuries. His 2 and 3 teams have the biggest players where it was felt they would be stronger, and had the experience. Sorry but there is no sandbagging going on. Yes, Johnson and Jackson are just fun to watch.

I'm guessing it had something to do with BG sandbagging his lineup again? Is BG wearing his wig or is it too windy?

Because "we" have seen all the teams play on multiple occasions. Oh, and Gimmilaro tried to sneak his #5 team into the pairs championship - Teams invited to the final four automatically get their top two teams into the pairs championship. BG tried to replace the team that has been playing in the #2 spot all season (Hampton/Cabrajac, who have been getting killed all year) with his #5 team. So apparently BG thinks his #5 is better than his #2. At any rate, the NCAA selection committee was not amused, and shot him down. So, yeah, sandbagging. But as I said pretty clearly before, it's not against the rules, so I wasn't condemning him, just laying out the situation. Still, the rules will be changed next season because of it. It's already being discussed.

ok, so what's the new rule? Coaches can't make their own line-ups?
sounds pretty stupid by the NCAA, if they didn't want the better team in.
The stupid rule was that pairs on teams getting to the final four got free passes.
LB should have just got 1 team in the pairs.

Players are only allowed to move up or down one seed from one tournament to the next. So it would be hard for other teams to match up against a team "sandbagging" it's 2nd best team into the 4th or 5th slot, unless they were already playing their better teams at a lower seed. You can't blame a coach for strategically working within the rules, but trying to get a lower seed into the championships over your #2 team is a punk move.

it's not a punk move, if he thinks they should be there
some of you are so ingidnant, imagine how the #2 team felt!
this sand-bagging argument is bunk BTW, just look at todays results - LB had a player who was injured and hadn't been playing - her performance at #3 made the difference - the #1 match was toss-up both times. again, a lot of sour grapes going around - people need to get a life - FSU got beat twice in one day - give it up people
