There is a report that Shoji is recruiting someone in Russia. Apparently, she made a video that makes fun of her height. I believe this is the video: Is this a legit interest or a fake like that 6'5 lefty from China?

So...2014 is like this: 6'2 MB Huff 6'2 MB Maglio (or something) 6'3 OH Greeley 5'9 DS Gianna Guinasso 5'8 DS Savanah Kahakai Now, any one targeted as a Libero. After watching Longo play, Dave should get a top notch Libero. Shoji has high expectations from Savannah Kahakai giving her a scholarship to step into Longo's role. Rarely does he give a scholarship for a defensive player.

Not to be a downer, but with the troubles we have experienced this season that list of outside hitters does not sound that promising other than Taylor...still yet to see Passi and Greeley, but with Olevao and Long as outside hitters, I believe the Wahine will struggle, unless Olevao uses the off-season to work on her game. i kinda want to see what passi brings. if she can pass and pound the ball, like a cubi-otineru type player, then i think she'll find her way onto the court. That's what I am waiting to see as well, as I have heard that she is similar to Otineru.

From what I saw in the inter-squad scrimmage in August, IMO Passi hits the ball the hardest on the team, yes more than Hartong and Kastl. From what I saw on the championship JC match, her passing was good enough to stay in 6 rotations. Better than what Olevao has been doing. To add she has a consistent heated jump serve.

I believe Greeley will make an impact right away for the Wahine. And it's nice to have a 6-3 outside hitter at the pins that can also block. So far this season, Nikki Taylor has exceeded my expectations. She has come on really strong for Hawaii and will only get better. THe best thing that Dave did was starting her this season, now she will have a year of experience under her belt, and won't be so doe-eyed next year!

How is her jump? At 5'9, if she doesn't have hops, I'm not sure how well she'll do against the bigger blockers. Otineru was good, but when she was positioned at left front for that one rotation, she would get blocked a lot. Danielson had hops, so she could do magic, so I hope Passi has some hops to go along with he 5'9 height.

I was just about to ask the same question, hitting a heavy ball won't do much if she can't get passed the block

She sounds like the type of player this year's team needs. Too bad she redshirted.

Kahakai not receiving a scholarship. She's a walk on. That goes to show you how much you can believe by people posting on the blogs. I'm just repeating what I read by a poster that he/she asked Kahakai personally if she is getting a scholarship and her answer was yes. This post was a few months back when she verbally committed. Maybe you could add to the source information.
