There are always a few players that ride the bench their entire time at UH, yet get the schole ride. I'm sure we could put a great libero on scholarship if made a priority. But I think that goes back to the point of not knowing what and how a player will contribute in the future. Hindsight is 20/20 and we can look back now and second guess those decisions. But at the time, you would gamble to give up a younger player who might develop into a starter later in her career. I also think it's generally not good practice for a coach to cut an existing player for another recruit.

Kendra Koelsch a setter/RS will be making a recruiting trip this week to UH. I believe she is looking to play beach but might decide to play indoor to.

One of the biggest hurdles is that Scott Wong, associate Head Coach, and Lead recruiter, has not shown the ability to bring in anyone from the mainland, since he became an assistant coach.

Next time around, why don't you just apply for the position and see if you can do better than you think he is doing.

seeing results from the beach competitions hawaii has played and seeing time after time how jane croson has been losing i felt sorry for her she is a world champion! i cannot speak on her behalf but i can speak on mine, if i were a world champion and i kept losing in the game i truly love it would hurt my pride and take some of my dignity.
i also have questioned what scott wong brings to the table. i wish shoji had hired a more sealy caliber assistant.

There is a great sophomore OH that hawaii should be recruiting in Alyse Wallace-Ford. She reminds me of a Kanani Danielson.

She'd do much better at UCLA. depending on what position she wants to play. At OH she would hardly see the court at UCLA. I think Hawaii would be a great fit for her. At OH, USC, UCLA, and Penn St. is gonna be REALLY hard to see any court time.

UCLA is really thin on the outside. She won't have much competition. At USC, she'll have Bricio, Ruddins, and Nwanebu ahead of her. As athletic as she is, I don't think she'll beat any of them out.

Well UCLA is thin on the outside right now but I doubt that'll last long. Sealy loves tall hitters, I just don't see her playing as an outside there. And USC, well no hitter under 6 ft., no matter how athletic she may be, is going to be an outside with Mick's offense.

When he came to UCLA, Love and Kidder were already there. The 2 outside hitters he has coming in for 2014 are both 6'1". It's no secret that he likes running a faster offense, which is why Ford would fit in well over there. Again, I don't think her game will translate well to USC's style of play. Lauren Gillis is going there too, and she's almost a carbon copy of Ford. Don't see why Mick needs 2 of them, especially since I don't think Gillis is going to get much playing time either.
