I want to use a remote and watch this. I don't want to learn anything new to do it.
User unfriendly, I tell you.

I want to use a remote and watch this. I don't want to learn anything new to do it. User unfriendly, I tell you. I think the Xbox integration is that easy. The mobile device one is close. Unfortunately, both require one of the short-list providers that have WatchESPN. I know the mobile support is meant for live events alone (and so there's no archive playback... even if one wanted to and had unlimited data, there are multiple regional semis going at the same time... and there could be overlap in a fifth-set situation between regionals too... so archive will be the only way to see some of the content that one didn't catch live). *** I found out that some cable Internet service now includes free ESPN3... even for people who don't have cable TV... and have updated the main post accordingly. If I find a list of those cable Internet providers, I will add that too. It is possible that the college ESPN3 does not require registration anymore for the same reason... Disney weakened ESPN3 enough (e.g., by adding blackouts) that they may be willing to hand it out more freely.

I'll add my two cents about needding a login and password to watch ESPN3 on the computer. I called my provider (Comcast) to verify I have access to it, which I do, I have the $7.95 digital sports package.
I also had no idea what my username and password are, and the service rep gave me the info. I didn't want to be staring at a login screen with no way to get in!
It took me about 15 minutes, from trying to find an actual phone number for Comcast, and then speaking with two customer service people to get set.

One more thing, make sure you login at Xfinity.com.

When I get home from watching the West Lafayette Regionals, I hope there will be more volleyball to watch and that all these instructions work.
I really don't understand why the Sweet Sixteen can't be broadcast on TV. You have everything there for the Elite 8 anyway!

One more thing, make sure you login at Xfinity.com. That works. If you want to do it the other way... login at an ESPN site... go in through ESPN3.com if you don't have any of ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU on your cable (or just have cable Internet) and go in through WatchESPN.com if you do have cable with at least one of ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. I tried that, and my username and password didn't work. I had to call customer service again, and they told me to use the Xfinity website.

Screwing up what used to work is just like Comcast... they have a similar hack job in place for the Pac-12 Networks. At least you can see all the ESPN3 streams rather than just the handful Comcast wants you to see (the Pac-12 Networks only have seven pre-defined streams on Comcast... the national channel and six regional channels... and they won't let you watch the beginning of another event that is joined "in progress" on the seven pre-defined streams... all the other big cable providers carrying Pac-12 Networks allow individual events to be watched from their beginning).

I am an ESPN Insider, by reason of buying their magazine that I never read (also, never pay for, or at least haven't for years). Anybody know if that will help? I watch ESPN3 regularly and have been blacked out, but as far as I know from ESPN 2 events. I can also get onto XBox, which kept replays of last years Regionals and finals for months in their archives. I assume from what's been said that I cannot watch the XBox live, however, since I have no cable carrier to get in through.

OK, from a remote computer, not mine, accessed WatchESPN, and was able to view upcoming events. All 8 regionals were listed, and none said subject to blackout, which normally would be there if the blackout was being enforced. So I am reasonably certain you can get the regionals in by going to ESPN3, or accessing through WatchESPN, although the ESPN3 would be better. May be totally wrong.
Now I have to decide what to do. If there is no work tomorrow I could get home early enough to watch the first matches, including Oregon-BYU. Or drive directly to Berkeley. Problem is, Michigan-Michigan St. is not exciting. What to do, what to do......

The 4 Regional Finals according to ESPN3 popup map I opened when I clicked on "blacked out"(I think those were the words) by "ESPN3 logo will be blocked out on Saturday for ESPN3 except for Hawaii. Come Sat this could all change because, never trust ESPN to always do what they say they will do.

Man, I'm so confused. I called Comcast (my cable and internet provider) and they knew of no way to watch espn3 other than by using an xbox or playstation, which I do not have. I'm not sure if the guy knew what he was talking about.
I'd be happy just to watch the MN/Purdue match.

Try this number for customer service, since it's toll free, maybe it will work no matter where you live. 877-973-1379. I used option 4. Both people I spoke with knew what I wanted.

Yes, but you'd have to make sure you got your cable and/or Internet set up in time for the match. Try calling (800)COMCAST and ask for details... perhaps you can, but I doubt it... and they might charge you a big setup fee, making it uneconomical. Perhaps you can watch it from somewhere on the ISU campus (if you're in Ames)... you don't need a cable or cable internet account to watch ESPN3 if you can access the Internet from their campus network (either on campus or via VPN).
